The Bee Charmer  by Pipkin Sweetgrass 62 Review(s)

So gentle the grief that comes with the finding again. I am truly loving this story.

Author Reply: The character of Ruby is based on and a tribute to my dear friend Ruby, who died back in '02. It was her loss that caused me to look for something to take my mind off my grief. I found my comfort at the old billyboyd.net forum. There I met some of my dearest friends on the net and in real life. Until then I had never heard of fan fiction! Billy didn't give up on his dream to act, and that awakened my old desire to write. Billy became my Scottish muse. I can never thank him enough for that.

I'm so glad you like my story, and I mean that with all my heart.

Oh, love the drinking song.

Author Reply: Evendim wrote it for me! She's such a dear and she really knows her Numenoreans and Stewards! She's really up on these histories and has done huge amounts of research. I owe a lot to her.

Glad to see Lindelea is contributing to the story. It's quite a good one, I think. And to see the shell shock in Boromir as well as the feeling of split identities from his various "rebirths" is also pretty realistic.

Author Reply: Lindelea is an awesome beta reader and a very gifted writer. I can't possibly praise her enough. I thought Boromir must surely have inner scars, having studied closely his history and taking note of his very round character. I'm very happy you're pleased with my story, it means so much to me that people are enjoying it and taking the time to review. Bless you!

Wish I had more time to read and review today. It was wonderful to see a version of Saint Francis's prayer that he followed. And the tale of the lost love and child is gentle and sad. Glad he named the child Faramir. Will read more tomorrow when I have more time.

Author Reply: One of the wonderful things about writing this story is the massive amount of research I've done in regards to the spiritual. Later you'll find I did my homework on the laws governing the people of Gondor as well. (Does this make me a Middle-earth lawyer? LOL)

A gentle rebirth among a people not long divorced from nature and the Father. The blessing is one we may all appreciate.

Author Reply: That was inspired by my Cherokee ancestors. I'm mostly Scottish and Irish with a dash of Dutch and French, but I do have Cherokee blood as well and love their stories. The Blessing is a slightly altered prayer I try to pray every day. Glad you liked it!

A wonderful explanation of how he was saved, of the near-death experience of being sent back, the rebirth feeling. Wonderful story so far.

Author Reply: I wanted to reply to this review in particular because you grasped what I did with his wounds. It stands to reason he would have suffered a pneaumo-thoraxic trauma, and there is only one way to treat that: a chest tube. Also, he needed to suffer a wound that would not heal completely in the grand tradition of epic heroes. Thanks again for reading/reviewing.

Somehow I missed this in the first reading, and now things make a bit more sense. I love the premise, I certainly do!

Author Reply: Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your wonderful reviews! I can't tell you how much they mean to me! I hope you continue to read and review, this story has quite an arc and a lot of developement. I hope you like reading it as much as I love writing it.

many much thanks,

Pipkin

Oh yes, just as lovely as I remember! I think my favorite part was the reunion between the three, and how they rolled about laughing and hugging like children! *sigh* You created such a sweet and peaceful universe, and joyful, as well...

Author Reply: Thank you so much! These three surely loved each other, going by both main text and subtext. I think that somewhere in Boromir's heart he saw them as the children of his heart, and "his" hobbits knew that and returned his love in kind. Thank you so much for reviewing, it means so much to me!

Oh how lovely that you have put this *here* where I can review it! I do so love this story, and will be glad to read it once more!

Author Reply: *hugs you*

Coming from you, the compliments are even more wonderful. With Lindelea's help I'm producing a much better tale, and I hope you like it.

many much hugs,

Pipkin

Yes, the greeting was most appropriate, and must have flabbergasted Theo and Faro. Lovely greeting. Still waiting to see how Boromir became a bee charmer!
