Nothing of Note  by Primsong 84 Review(s)

Ah, so young Finch is not so adventurous after all. But a seed has been planted.

How sweet! I think I like your young Finch...perhaps we will be seeing a lot of him? I wonder what they will find...

LOL! Poor Bilbo, to learn what a strange reputation he had gained so far from home. Clearly the Brockhouses are the kind of people who would rather believe a juicy scandal than the plain truth any day, and yet would be offended to find out the reality of things.

Oh, that's just too funny! I wonder what Bilbo will come up with...

DreamflowerReviewed Chapter: 9 on 7/11/2005
Oh, clever, clever Bilbo! What a way to get his books back, and poor forgetful Hugo never the wiser! *chuckle*

DreamflowerReviewed Chapter: 8 on 7/11/2005
Your Bilbo poetry is just wonderful! So very like him, and so very hobbity!

Bilbo's begun thinking about Frodo now...

That was quite a scary encounter with the dog; I kept expecting the owner to show up, and was surprised he didn't. Interesting version of the Maggot story, never occurred to me that Bilbo could possibly have been with Frodo.

Author Reply: Thank you so much for your encouraging reviews - it has made my day very delightful. :-)

"...Interesting version of the Maggot story, never occurred to me that Bilbo could possibly have been with Frodo."

No credit to me for this one - the idea was taken from Tolkien's rough drafts in the History of Middle-earth books - having Bilbo with Frodo, and Bilbo accidently killing one of Maggot's dogs with a blow was a rabbit-trail of the Professor's that he discarded, as he thought it was too harsh. Of course they were named Bilbo and *Bingo* at the time, heh. I thought it an interesting idea, so I took the liberty of tucking it back in. - Prim

*melts into puddle of goo*
That was just about the sweetest thing I've read in a long time. I think I am in love with your Bilbo...

Aaw, that last little bit was sad, wasn't it, with the farmer just assuming that Bilbo had grown children somewhere...

I absolutely loved your beautiful description of the country and of the walk and the mist. You have a very well developed sense of place, and wonderful pacing. Your Shire matches up so very well with JRRT's, and so does your style.

So Bilbo is beginning to wonder what will become of his things when the S.-B.s get their hands on them? Wise of him.

I love the description of the two old hobbits morning grumps, and also of the mathom house, which I don't believe I've ever seen described before.
