| Excellent! Up to your usual high standard, or perhaps even better. I love such turns of phrase as you employ here: as the crow flies, from his house north to the Great East Road that would take them to Bree -- but the hobbits were not crows, and their ponies were not flying ...and all the little touches that add richness and reality to the telling. Frodo's admission that they weren't actually supposed to be listening to ghost stories. Pippin shivering and drawing closer to Merry. Very well done, and looking forward to more. | |

Already you have made the mood appropriate, with the thoughts of the wights and their history preparing us for what drives them. I like how they sense the power that Frodo carries, and are drawn to it, just as their dark lord and kings would have been. I look forward to seeing where you go with this! | |

| I always love your fluffy bunnies, but I really do love these darker, creepier stories as well. This one is looking quite interesting. Tolkien left out so many things. I'm glad you're taking up the mantle of trying to find an explanation for the events at the barrow, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of this. :) | |
