The Island  by shirebound 104 Review(s)

Good chapter. I'm relieved you didn't let Boromir succumb to 'Denethor', it would have been entirely too predictable. But, what now? Surely a wizard can find a way out of a pit? I'm intrigued as to what you'll do here.

This is continuing to be so cool!! I love how you are portraying Boromir (I know, I've said that before, but I mean it :) ) You are weaving a wonderful mysterious tale.

What would have happened had the Fellowship been formed under other circumstances? Or what if some character's roles had been switched with others? You have obviously thought about this and are portraying it wonderfully in your story. Merry finding the Palantir...a most interesting thought.

One question, separate from the rest of my review. Is there going to be a creature anything like Ethan on your island. PLEASE don't let anyone get hanged especially not Merry or Pippin!!! Seeing that one Lost episode with Charlie's near death experience from hanging...I shudder to think about it. That was one of the most disturbing things I've ever watched!

I'm a complete and total LOTR and Lost fan, so I call this story, quite simply, BRILLIANT! ;) I can't believe no one's thought of this before. It's kind of humorous to hear Middle-Earth characters talking about riding a plane. I can't wait to see how you develope characters. Keep writing!

Wow, wasn't expecting that!!! Nice twist.

You darn well did make it unguessable(is that a word?). I love it! Aragorn has to teach me that look too, I need it to work on my brother! It's been a sad week. One of the kids I knew died in a fire this weekend, he was 14. So, I've been crying all week so far. I think ot sucks that he was taken so soon, I truly don't think it was his time. Oh well, God calls us all. Anyway, Lost is tomorrow so I'm getting happier, and I can't wait for your next update!

Oh yay! I really didn't see that one coming, I like the decision though. Frodo is a genius! I can't wait to see how the two react about whatever will happen, and I hope everyone is okay! Oh, by the way, love that reaction of Merry seeing Pippin close his mouth, added some very cute humor!

Once again.... I am amazed. BOROMIR!?!?! I never would have guessed it! I keep forgetting that these characters aren't exactly our movie/cannon boys, are they? ::giggle::

You are so incredibly creative and have put so much thought into this, Shirebound, you just floor me. I've decided that I need to print it all out and read it like a book, since it's so "long" between chapters. I'm really enjoying this fresh look at the Fellowship. Thanks for growing that plot bunny! :)

I haven't reviewed for some chapters, but have been reading it all. I like Frodo's maturity here & it's nice that he thought of a solution himself, rather than relying blindly on Gandalf's opinion.

Great choice on your part for giving the ring to the most complex character of the fellowship. I'm looking forward to seeing how Boromir deals with this.

I should have known. You've been watching "Lost" WAY too long. *grin*

Here I was, completely convinced that Frodo would choose Sam to be the new bearer of the Ring - and you go and borrow a page from JJ Abrams' book...taking you in one direction then abruptly swerving at the last possible moment. A brilliant piece of writing, if I must say so. And Frodo's logic really is inescapable, once you think about it. Boromir makes the perfect choice.

“An invisible, mischievous Took,” Gandalf muttered. “I do not believe the world is ready for such a thing.” Now THAT was priceless...I couldn't help but laugh at the thought of an invisible Pippin running around.

It'll be interesting to see what happens next. You should consider writing some "Lost" fanfic - I have a feeling you'd be pretty good at it. Thanks for the update, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next chapter(s) - both of "Lost" AND "The Island".
