Yes, I finallly caught up :) This was a wonderful story!! I loved the letters Pippin wrote to Diamond, they were really sweet. All in all a great story.

Author Reply: So glad you did! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Pippin's letters were really quite popular,LOL! I think what made them so sweet was the effect of him writing to her every single day, even if it was only to say he missed her. I think a lot of short notes like that have more of a kick than, say, one long passionate letter.

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

I had a lot of catching up to do again! I see there is another story of yours here that I need to get on with as well! So many things to catch up on I have to really pace myself!

Pippin speaking with the Healer in Brandy Hall was amusing! He did well in keeping Pippin in line! Good thing Merry can read Pip so well so that he was able to get all the information he needed out of him. Then Pippin didn't have much of a chance to go against healers orders.

All of Pippin's little letters were delightful! That seems like him, to write such short notes but that he always ended with missing her, very nice!

I love the way Paladin treated Diamond. So very sweet, the way he spoke with her in the Inn. She is certainly getting a good deal with the Took family!

I like how you write the parties and all the dancing. It really is a shame things like that aren't done now days! Poor Pippin having to look on while others danced with his lass! At least it was mostly the Master and Thain! Good thing!

I was very glad that you wrote the wedding! A very nice ending and the letter from Frodo was great, I'm glad he at least knew who Pippin was going to marry! Very well done. Such a great story thank you for wonderful read!

I must say mention before closing, I would like to see some of what life is like in Crickhollow with two couples *hint, hint* and did you say that Merry and Estella have a baby? What fun!

Author Reply: Yes, well, Cousin Dody being a relative as well as a healer helps. And Merry has learned most of Pippin's little tricks with regards to healers by now.

My Pip's always written rather short letters. Imagine though, getting one short one every day,for a month, instead of a couple of long ones over the same period. That's what makes it romantic, I think.

Paladin is very pleased that Pippin has found such a sensible lass for his potential future daughter-in-law. And he simply likes her, as well.

Well, things like that *are* done nowadays. With the exception of "Circle of Joy" which exists only in my head, all those dances are ones that we do at revels at SCA events. "Southfarthing Brawl" is one called "Maltese Bransle" (pronounced "brawl"); the "Tangle Dance" is "Tangle Bransle"; "Exchanges is one that is called "Hole-in-the-Wall" and "Candles" is really "John Tallow's Canon" and a favorite of mine. I'm simply not skilled enough to make anything that complex up from scratch.
I thought it would be nice for Diamond to get to dance, and Pippin's father and uncle were kind enough to oblige.

The epilogue was one of the few things I had planned from the very start of the story. I really wanted for Frodo to have met Pippin's future wife--that was the main reason that I tampered with her age, so she would be old enough for that at least. I think that it would have reassured him that Pip was going to be all right.

I may do a story or two like that somewhere down the line. And yes, by this time, there is also a tiny Brandybuck there. I haven't decided yet if it is a lad or a lass. You are the only one who seems to have noticed that so far!

Were you crying as you wrote this? I had tears streaming down my face as I read it. What words can express the feelings between the cousins? Or how they must have felt when he left. I can't seem to find any to write.

What a truly beautiful way to end the story, though. It sums it all up doesn't it? You are such an amazing author. Do you write anything besides fan fictions? An excellent story.

Now, I must end with a quote that goes with the epilogue, I think, quite well:

"Use well the days."

Author Reply: No, not really crying, but I felt like it. It just breaks my heart for Merry, Pippin and Sam to think of Frodo leaving them.

I am blushing at all your compliments. I do only write LotR fanfics as far as fiction goes. I have had a couple of non-fiction things published in the ancient past. When I was in high school and college, I did do some original stuff, but right now I truly don't want to do anything but wallow in hobbits.

That is a good quote--and I thank you so much for your lovely reviews!

Thank you very much for this, it has been delightful from beginning to end, and although I haven't reviewed, I have never failed to keep up with the updates ;) I'm positive that it you ever decided to write Merry's wedding I'll be the first person to make the hit count go up, :)! Thanks again for a very pleasant, sweet, happy story!

Author Reply: Well, I've done a drabble about Merry's wedding *night* and a double drabble about Sam and Rosie helping the couple get ready for it, but the actual *wedding* itself, not yet. Someday, maybe. But I have a few other stories to get to first, alas.

Lovely...It's been a great story from begining to end... Very well done..
A letter frodo left for both of those he loved... You could feel his love for a little cousin he would not see again..
Very well done...

Author Reply: Thank you, and thank you for all your reviews. I am glad that you have enjoyed this story!

Thank you so much for your story. I greatly enjoyed it, especially the fact that it was clean and free from all the mess so many others have wound into them. You did a very good job portraying Pippin and I like the impression I got of Diamond. Again, thank you and I look forward to your next story!

Author Reply: Well, thank you very much for the compliment! I mostly write G rated stories, with the occasional PG or PG-13 for mild violence. I'm not comfortable writing sex scenes, and don't very read much of it either. I'm glad you like my Pippin, and also my Diamond. I think Pippin deserves a happy marriage.
Thank you for reading and reviewing it!

Oh dear, you made me sniffle along with Pip and Diamond as they read the letter from Frodo.

And, oh heavens, did I see Sam not use a Mr. before Pippin's name. Did those two finally get to him or is he more at ease since he's now the Mayor? Or maybe both of those things.

This has been a great story, I like the way you moved Diamond into Pippin's life.

You did hint that you will be writing Merry's wedding soon, we hope. ;-)

Author Reply: It was a little sad, wasn't it?

Merry and Pippin started to rebel at the "Mr." shortly after Frodo left. By the time of Pip's wedding it's been five years, so he doesn't forget too much any more. But I think he still might slip up once in a while.

I like the idea that the two young couples shared Crickhollow for a while, so I alluded to it here.

I'm not sure how soon. I have a scenario in mind. But it hasn't yet resolved into a full-fledged bunny. Sooner or later, though.

Awww... nicely done, friend. Very nicely done! I congradulate you on finishing this very long story. If you are anything like was, you are as proud of your accomplishment as you are glad that it's over!

Thank you for sharing it with us.

Ariel

Author Reply: Thank you very much. It is not as long as "New Reckoning", but it's longer than I thought it would be by some 20 chapters.LOL! I am pleased with how it came out though, and relieved that it is finished.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. And thanks for the loan of Cousin Dody.
(He'll also be in my Challenge 12 story, by the way.)

Thank you for this beautiful story!
And Frodo's foresight to write a letter for this special occasion - "the best hobbit in the Shire" indeed.
And to end it all with this song (one of my favourites): wonderful!
Keep on writing!

Author Reply: Frodo used his foresight to cheer Sam up: telling him about his children and that he'd be Mayor. I think he might have left such letters for his cousins, not knowing that they'd be at the Havens to see him off.
And that's one of my favourites, as well.
Thank you for the nice review! I am glad you liked the story!
