The Misty Month  by Le Rouret 21 Review(s)

This just gets better and better! I love this whole concept, though why the thought of Legolas being noted for his "midwife talents" and having used said talents so many times should be so appealing, I haven't the foggiest! But it is and I'm thoroughly enjoying the interplay between the gentle and very capable elf prince and the normally stern, held-together, but-now-coming-apart- shieldmaiden of Rohan!! This whole situation is simply ripe with wonderful possiblities for such interesting and REVEALING dialogue...such as Legolas's revelation that he has "never lain with a woman"....this was truly an interesting track you took with this subject - quite different than the direction so many other authors have gone. I rather liked it and the fact that his intent was to "save himself" for the one he would eventually marry. Rather a radical idea coming from a male in that era - no wonder Eowyn reacted with surprised agreement. Very few men in that time would hold to such an "outlandish" view, that the male should be just as chaste as the woman was expected to be...but then, I'm not surprised Legolas would hold such a view, being as intelligent and farsighted as he is!

Your stories continue to be of the highest caliber and quality and I'm looking forward with anticipation to the unfolding of this "delicious" treat!!

Legolas as midwife! I can see him being experienced in the skills needed to deliver babies, (although I could see him even more easily delivering foals). But poor Eowyn is not giving birth under ideal circumstances here - it's cold, she's surrounded by slain guards and their killers are presumably still around. Not to mention the embarrassment of having a person of Legolas's rank and gender investigating the area below her skirt!

I remember reading somewhere that soldiers injured in battles in pre-sophisticated healthcare days often did better if they were not rushed into hospital tents, because they were less likely to succumb to infection through cross-contamination. Don't know how true it is, but I can see a logic to it.

Look forward to the next stage of the delivery - finding whether she is 10 cm dilated!

Well, I was wrong. It's not Legolas who doesn't know what he's getting into. It's Eowyn! Forty-seven births! Wow! That sounds like another good story in itself. This is just so funny and sweet. And the virginity revlation! "Well I reserve that joy for myself as well." What a beautiful line and he makes it believable. Now that's why I want an elf. I can't wait for more.

Oh I am glad to see this posted! So nice to return to the world of the Green Knight - Elven chivalry must be the best kind. And not a love-sick maid in sight. Hooray!

I think this story may be most enjoyable for the opportunity it presents to explore hidden aspects of Legolas' character - and Eowyn's as well, should you choose. I'm not sure I quite see how a prince of Mirkwood came to attend so many births, but I'll accept it as part of your world. And I am very, very glad to see that you are holding true to Tolkien's vision of Elven customs. I admit that I enjoy reading a fic that strays from LACE now and then - purely for recreational purposes, of course. But far too few fans take the opportunity to explore Tolkien's Elves the way he intended them. Truly, virginity is not that hard. Granted, it may be a little more challenging when you're Legolas and looking at several centuries or more of bachelorhood, but it still isn't so impossible as many fans seem to believe. Well done, and good for you.

Boy, I'm not sure I could have handled that situation any better than Eowyn. LOVED the conversation, by the way. LOL This part is delightful and I can't wait for more! *vbg*

Yeah!!! I 've been hoping you would come up with another GREAT strory. I laughed so hard. Having given birth to three children I could definitely relate to Eowyn. I can distinctly remember grabbing my husband's shirt in the middle of a horrendous contraction with my second daughter and saying something along the lines of "Where the hell is that anesthesiologist!!!" Poor Legolos. He has no idea what he has gotten himself into has he. I can't wait to read more. You have an amazing talent. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!!

Aarrgghh!! This is perfect!! I nearly fell off my chair when I saw this posted, LOL! This whole idea was simply killing me when presented in "My Dear Bandrobras" - the whole aspect of Legolas being the "midwife of choice" among the "aristocratic" Godorrian women was not only an intriguing idea, but a hoot as well!! I am so glad you are pursuing this story idea - it should make for some very interesting scenes, to put it mildly. I look forward to the developing of this story and can't wait for chapter two!

oooo, I can't wait to see the rest of this! I'm having a home birth in a few weeks and WISH I could get Legolas to be there!!

Also, as long as I'm writing, I would love to see what happened when Bandobras returned to court. But hey, this one is timely for me personally! ;-)

The Green Knight is back!!!!!! :)
*Cheer*
Though his duties seem a far cry from his last role as Eowyn's champion!!!
Legolas' name should be changed to Greenleaf-of-many-and-varied-talents I think. Midwifery is one skill that one does not normally attribute to knights in shining armour I'll warrant.
Looking forward to the next chapter....
