These are hilarious! I like the way Sam not only is speaking in all sorts of strange idioms, but also keeps forgetting his place and yelling at everyone. I also particularly liked the Pippi Longstocking reference. I became acquainted with Pippi around the same time as the LotR and I got the two names confused a few times, lol.

This is just too funny. There is nothing that will give me a jolt in an otherwise well-written hobbit story than the word "okay". It's so seemingly harmless and useful and automatic, that I have to school myself. However, being an American, I am not necessarily up on other terms. I remember how surprised I was when Marigold gently advised me not to use the word "gotten". And there are other more subtle ones: not to use "sidetracked"--no railroads in Middle-earth; don't say "backpedaled"--no bicycles either. For hobbits, no expressions like "the shoe is on the other foot" or "the other shoe dropped" and only a Brandybuck might say something about being "up the creek without a paddle"! But the stories that are chockful of slang usually can't hold my interest--unless it is humor! Then all bets are off! Author Reply: Although didn't JRRT himself say something about Bilbo "puffing on the mat like a little engine" (or some words to that effect)? Fighting insomnia and revisiting old haunts... (in case you wondered if this message got caught in a time warp).

This is too funny! I LMAO at this and I can assure you that is a great deal of laughing. I only hope poor Merry doesn't die from slang before Strider can cure him. I totally need more of this bitchin' story! So wicked cool!

This is some of the most hilarious story I`ve ever read! I can`t believe that it`s possible to come up with so much great things as you do! Poor hobbits, they do get it rough in this one.
