Oh dear. The enthusiasm of the Rohirrim must be rather difficult to overcome!

Author Reply: Oh yes. Peer pressure anyone? But Thorongil was not completely opposed to really join the party.

It must be difficult to put up with Denethor's pontifications, when you are accustomed to listening to the wisdom of Elrond.

Author Reply: At the point of time were I envision this drabble, Aragorn hasn't listened to Elrond in quite some time. But he has reached a point were he remembers intelligent, fruitful conversations with Elrond very vividly.

>_> 'm not innocent either...Dear *goodness,* if the tale's not begging to be told after that, I don't know what is.

Although I wouldn't particularly want to distract you from Doomed to Live, now would I.

Author Reply: First of all, I owe you a big apology for not answering your review earlier. And I agree with you that Aragorn's experiences in Moria beg to be told. I even have a tiny plot bunny nibbling at my ankle and whispering suggestions. But it will have to wait until Doomed To Live is somewhere close to finished.

A reason to go on, and a needed step to take, of course.

But these two are friends, after all.

Author Reply: Yes, an excellent reason. Furthermore, Aragorn knows the comforts that await them in Rivendell, and they all have need of some comfort at that point of their journey.

The renewal of the oaths after the proof of them is perhaps needless, but means the more.

So glad you finally posted it! About time!

Author Reply: And about time I answered all your lovely reviews.

I fully agree with you. Aragorn and Éomer have given ample proof during the War of the Ring that they still uphold that oath. But Aragorn was not yet king during the Ringwar. Moreover, renewing the oath provides a good reason for a party, and I think both Gondor and Rohan have need of a good celebration after the dark years of Sauron's threat.

At least Boromir is warned Aragorn seeks only to protect others, and not to hide facts. Hopefully he can appreciate such feelings.

Author Reply: Oops, I wasn't aware that I have still unanswered reviews. Sorry for not replying sooner. I think the relationship of Boromir and Aragorn was somewhat strained during that part of the journey. As soon as Aragorn finds an opportunity to related the tale to Boromir, Boromir will understand Aragorn's reluctance.

"Later. That tale is not for the innocent to hear."

*waves hand* I'm not innocent!

Author Reply: Ok, ok, I get it. *moves 'mines of Moria' nûzgul to the top of the plot bunny list*

What a powerful little scene. I love the Aragorn-Glorfindel interaction. Gosh, ever think about expanding these? They're all great.

Author Reply: Thanks!

Thinking: yes, I think I have enough plot bunnies to last me a couple of years. It 's the time to write them down I lack ;-)

These were a most enjoyable read.

Author Reply: Thanks! They also were fun to write.
