Oh, holy heaven to Betsey! Those poor Elves, they need to get home to some TLC. I love this story, it's really intense and dramatic. Thanks!

Author Reply: And they're still needing that TLC. Nearly home, but all is not well ...

*blink*

You killed the poor elleth. You killed her. And you made Legolas shoot her no less!! How could you?

*fan breaths deeply to get over her shock*. That was a brilliant, if scary chapter. I am presuming that is a Nazgul - very effective, the bony handreaching out to touch her. The arrows passing through it/him and most of all its touch robbing her of joy, light.

Brrr...

Exciting stuff. I read the chapter twice before I got the courage to review. PS. legolas is a bit foolhardy to take such risks - I know it was needed and all but still. Don't let anything happen to him okay. Or any of the other ones.

Oh yeah - let the horse survive too. Please.

POST SOON

Author Reply: Yes, it was a Nazgul - I think the worst of all enemies for an elf. Poor Elentia - but think what would have happened if Legolas had not acted. Don't worry, Legolas' horse will be fine.

Oh! Well, she died, but at least that's better than eternal torture in Dol Guldur. I'd have been thankful, had I been her.
I'm looking forward to the next chapter!

Author Reply: Weighed against Dol Guldur, it was the only thing the elves could do. Not an easy choice to make.

Oh wow this was terrifying. And you did it just right, Jay, because I became convinced of what Legolas had to do at about the same time he did. But you really scared the wits out of me first.

Author Reply: I'm sorry - sort of - that I scared you, but really glad the chapter had such an impact. Poor Legolas - it wasn't an easy thing for him.

Oh, dear. Poor Elentia, I hope that nothing too bad happens to her. Hurry and write the next chapter, please!

Author Reply: Poor Elentia indeed. But something bad does happen, I'm afraid.

Author Reply: Sorry about the double reply - my cat just walked across the keyboard!

It strikes me that Elentia might be lucky to be unconscious. Or perhaps not. She needs to learn stuff, I guess. I liked her memories of lessons about being captured by Orcs. It sounded so realistic.

Legolas and the others to the rescue, I hope! I am relieved that he's OK.

Author Reply: Poor Elentia. There's worse in store for her. Legolas will 'save' her, but not in the way people will expect.

Very exciting chapter! I would not want to be the one to deliver the news to Thranduil either.

It's always interesting to try to figure out what would be good strategy in these situations. I keep thinking that the Elves would be very clever but danged if I can think of good stuff for them to do. I can see your Legolas working out the best plan he can and it seems good to me, although it evidently did not work out too well.

EEEEEEEEKKKKK!!! Poor Legolas, his crafty brave plan backfiring. And his poor horse as well! EEK and double EEK!

Please continue!

As I was reading this, I was thinking about how much I admired the members of this elven patrol. They seem so capable and very elfy - at home in the forest, very self-disciplined, able to function on their own but committed to supporting one another. And the glimpse of Dol Guldur is interesting too. I have trouble picturing it.

Author Reply: I think the warriors of Lasgalen (I don't think the elves would call their home Mirkwood) have had a long time fighting Dol Guldur, and have their own ways of comabting the shadow, used to working as a team. Thanks for the review - I'm glad you think the patrol are 'elfy' - it's what I try to make them!
