Dear Frodo and him holding out that long. Reread window to the west chapter too and knew you had a fic with “the ways appointed to us “
Ohh I do love our dear hobbit .

I loved revisiting this fic- i thought all the point of views to be so real and canonical. I just realized that other than Aragorn, i feel like Faramir had the most interaction with all four hobbits during the Quest and post Quest. Faramir has a natural bond with Pippin, bonded with Merry in HoH and Frodo and Sam in Henneth Annun and post quest i'm sure. I wonder if he saw the good and resilience in hobbits that helped him heal as well. :)
But nice use of the quote in going the ways appointed to us. That WIndow to the West chapter was such a great transition kind of chapter and also gave great insight to Faramir's character. (and protective Sam and that Frodo swoon at the end was feeder for lots of fics. ;)

Faramir totally rocks ...

This chapter definitely caught the sort of confused half-wandering mind of someone so far past tired they barely know what's happening -- lots of pieces of semi-related thoughts all stringing together. It's nice that they knew they were safe for just a minute, at least.

Author Reply: This part of the book where Faramir gently bore Frodo to his rest, and Sam frankly told Faramir that he recognized his quality was such a lovely thing. How I wish the films had shown us the compassion and respect Faramir gave to Frodo and Sam from the very beginning!

Awww. Lovely moment between the exhausted Ring-bearer and Captain Faramir. They've achieved a wondrous state of trust here, and I'm sure it's helped Frodo spiritually as well as physically.

Author Reply: Thank you so much for reviewing. It's quite thrilling to know that my older stories are still being discovered and enjoyed. I love reading and writing about the "help unlooked for" that Frodo found along the way, and Faramir certainly epitomized the best of it. Frodo and Faramir have an enormous amount in common, and I'm so happy Prof. Tolkien brought them together.

Well, I'm back! Wow! This is my favourite:

"You're safe here. Rest easy. Sleep now, sleep."

This story is beautiful! Namarie and God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Thank you, QG! This was one of my very first stories, and I'm just thrilled the older ones are still being read and enjoyed. Faramir was truly a Man of quality, and it's a joy to show his gentle and honorable treatment of Sam and Frodo.

Thank you for writing a story which keeps true to Faramir's honourable character. The lure of the ring is present of course, but he is wise enough to know his own limitations and avoids the trap his brother fell into.

One of my few complaints about the movie version was the change they made to Faramir and his initial response to Frodo and Sam. It may have increased the drama by having him force them to go to Osgiliath, but that's not what he did in the books, and in my mind that fundamentally changed Faramir's nature.

Thank you again. Overall a very well written piece.

Author Reply: Movie-Faramir... sigh. Oh well! At least PJ redeemed his character as the movies progressed. Book-Faramir is a noble, strong, truly good and decent Man who didn't even want to *see* the Ring, let alone take it. Thank you very much for feeling that I portrayed him well.

He smells of leather and wood smoke and deep green forests.
What a wonderful description of Faramir! I can just imagine it! Ummmmm.

You've got all the voices spot-on. What a great story! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Ann

Author Reply: Thank you very much. This was one of my very early stories, and it's gratifying to know that the "voices" rang true.
