| It is a rainy dreary ugly nasty no-good night With not a flake of snow in sight (this is SE Texas, ya know!) When I found this gem of a funny story Which made me laugh....um....uncontrollably (and that doesn't rhyme either!) Chigger, and Coriel - how hilarious!!!! I sat and giggled my way through this, starting with Pippin's pose and the argument about the overuse of "compose" and whether or not "authored" was a word! HA!! Then that awful poem! I can remember in my Lit classes having to pick those poems to pieces...dissect them word by bloody word...and explain the imagery, the author's feelings/purpose, the figures of speech, ad nauseum. Ughhhh! Loved it, loved Gimli's 3 words and Legolas' 1000! How appropriate! :-) And LOVED the catch at the end - Ralph W. Emerson indeed! HAHAHAHAHA *snort* Well done, and thanks for some much needed giggles on a yucky night! :-))))) linda ya'll did this long ago, but heck, I'm reviewing anyway!!!!!! Author Reply: Heehee! :) Gosh, it's been well over half a year since I've gotten a review. I'd almost forgotten my password to get in! :P Hey, be happy! :) I'd rather be stuck in Texas on a rainy dreary ugly nasty no-good night without snow than up here in Virginia with the exact same weather. We've only had one day of snow this year. Anyway, I'm glad we were able to perk the night up a bit. :) (And thankfully, all I had to do with this poem for school was read it. | Too funny! I love your last little tag about RWE. Another bit of the puzzle falls into place. Hey, I just read a story that I think you and Coriel would like. It's titled One Year in Mirkwood, by daw the minstrel. Have you read much of her work? I just now discovered her and I am working my way through her chronicles of Legolas and the Mirkwood Realm. This particular story doesn't look like it has been read much, but I thought it was terrific. If you read it and leave a review . . . tell daw I said hi . . . Thanks for the funny fic! Author Reply: Thank you! This is what comes of "great literature" when you give it to a high school student. :) We'll try to go check daw's story out, but time hasn't been very free around here lately. :) I don't think I've ever read anything of hers, but Coriel has. | Oh, great scot! This is absolutely hysterical; I'll never look at Emerson the same way again! I can understand everyone's confusion about it not rhyming, although Merry was a bit mean to Pip. Ah, well, this rocked. Keep it up! Author Reply: As much as Merry loves his cousin, I don't imagine anyone was much in the mood for his poetry; and Sam and Frodo just don't seem as likely to be rude as Merry. :) Don't get me wrong, though, Merry's my favorite of the four. I've hated reading Emerson ever since grade school. >_< | |

| LOL! I love the description of the "poet's pose". I actually rather like the poem, even though I tend to prefer poems that rhyme. The language is beautiful. ^_^ Author Reply: Well, I'm sure Emerson will be glad to know that someone liked it. :) Thanks for the review! | |

| Laughed my self silly. I particularly loved that it took Legolas at least three dozen or more words to say what Gimli accomplished in three, i.e., "it doesn't rhyme"! Funny. Is it possible to write anything with Pippin in it that is not endearing? Author Reply: Thank you for the feedback. Yes, Elves are usually more eloquent than dwarves, but I must admit that Coriel helped me with that part. And I would agree that Pippin is usually the funniest and most endearing of the four hobbits, but Merry is my favorite. :) | |

Author Reply: The reason everyone kept saying the same thing, is because that's what I kept saying as I read it. I found that "poem" to be absolutely awful, don't you agree?
