| I liked how you incorporated references to things that happen in the Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales. You do a good job inteweaving canon and your own stuff - it isn't blindingly obvious what is yours (except, of course, Barliman's family). Are you intending to continue this? Because you really should, you know. It feels more like the set-up for another story than a story in it's own right (although undeniably it is). If you write a sequel, I, at least, will read it and I bet others will too. Author Reply: Actually, except for Barliman Butterbur, *everybody* in this story is mine; Rangers, Breelanders and all. Ditto for the cities of Cardol and Minas Sul, the description of Annuminas, the enchanted forest, the Elven Kingdom of the Lake and Eru knows what else. I'm just grateful it's not blindingly obvious. Yes, there is a sequel in my head but not yet on paper, that's the hard part isn't it? Thank you for your kind and encouraging words. :) | |
