What Merry said at the end made me laugh

“Right in the middle of the third straight day of feasting, we’ll look at each other and smile, and know that we’re both thinking about this moment.”

I like that too ... :-)

I love Gandalf's friendship with the hobbits, it provides so much humor, comfort, and food for thought ...

Thanks for writing!

Author Reply: Thank you. I'm glad that Tolkien wrote the hobbits as using light words in even the most dire of situations. It helps to define their resilient nature.

A balrog with Gandalf`s old hat! LOL. Trust Pip to come up with such an image. This was very hopeful indeed.

Off to next chapter. :)

Author Reply: I do love that image! Hobbits can be lighthearted no matter *what's* going on.

:D

Winding up at the white tower is a prophetic thought! Trust hobbits to wish for the simple good things that make life worthwhile.

The first person point of view is very well done. And I loved the comment about where Gandalf gets his robes. That's a good question actually.
