Amazing! The characterizations of them and their friendship is totally on point!

Author Reply: Thank you very much! I'm delighted that these older stories are still being read and enjoyed. I'll never tire of imagining the infinite possibilities of the Professor's wonderful tale and characters.

I liked the picture of Aragorn skulking in the shadows, watching hobbits and fireworks. In fact, that's probably a better place to spend the party (at least, as far as I'm concerned). But only if there was some food there... :-)

Thanks for writing!

Author Reply: This was a fun story to write, one of my very first. It's such fun to re-read them along with you. :)

I don't think I've ever read this one...did you just write it? Nonetheless, it is beyond words, too lovely and bittersweet to even gather praise. Thank you so much, for allowing us to read and remember those days.

Author Reply: Believe it or not, this was one of my first stories -- posted at ff.net in 2003. I'm so happy you like it!

My favourite line absolutely is:

If by my life or death I can save you, I will.

Just makes you want to stand up and cheer "GO ARAGORN". He won't let anything happen to our cute and cuddly hobbit Frodo.

Well done with this little story Shirebound. Different situations each of them but you did well to tie the themes together.

Author Reply: Thanks, Jules! This type of story was a departure for me, and I enjoyed writing it. I think it's relationships and motivations that intrigue me most about the characters and their decisions.

So glad you liked it!

Good to see that there are those around to support our Frodo. I too think he will need that support against all of us fanfiction writers.

Several of his companions have come to quietly to stand at his side, lending their silent support. He has true friends, then. And although I do not know what lies ahead for this lad, my instincts tell me he will need them.

Hi Shirebound,

Just catching up on my very late reviewing - hope you don't mind.

I just love this couple of sentences in this first chapter : “Although having as good a time as his friends, his eyes occasionally seek out Bilbo, as if reassuring himself that he is still here. Perhaps it is an orphan’s insecurity, or perhaps something else.” Aragorn was enjoying the game.

Good to see Gandalf challenging our Ranger's talents and testing out skills he might need later on in the quest.
