The Old Took's Faunts  by Kaylee Arafinwiel 3 Review(s)

This is a very cute story. The mention of Trotter as a possible nickname for Hildifons made me think of how Tolkien at one point had the Aragorn character be a hobbit named Trotter. I also pictured a little three-year-old Aragorn toddling around Rivendell. Loved Gandalf getting a wee hobbit stuck in his beard.
Thanks,
atealgirl

Author Reply: Yes, good catch - that was a deliberate reference. It is also a reference to Dreamflower's story "Trotter", in which Hildifons ends up becoming a hobbit Ranger after leaving the Shire. I do hope you'll read her story, if you like Hildifons! :)

Thank you for your review!

Oh, what an introduction to Gandalf the Grey! Climbing the Wizard's beard is quite the feat!

Author Reply: LOL! It is, isn't it? He's quite the adventurous lad!

Do me a kindness and remove your brother from my beard

LOL! It's wonderful to imagine Gandalf's early meetings with these special lads, and a visit with his old friend Gerontius.

Author Reply: *giggles* Thank you! I loved writing that line. Gandalf is very important to Gerontius, and his lads are indeed very special. Hildifons will certainly be important to Gandalf later!
