His blood runs more truly from his Elvish ancestors than is seen in his brother, and most likely that Boromir more closely follows his father than his mother in this. So gentle a conversation between the two of them.

Very nicely done- And, as a physician, I had a good chuckle about the salinity of humanity!

In the darkest hour hope will come from the North

I like this - a beautiful inversion of the usual adage "out of the North shall evil break forth."

This was a really interesting discussion of the pull the sea has on mortals and Elves alike. I especially love this:

"One thing, I am certain of, though. Many Men will still be consumed by sea longing when they hear the gulls cry, countless generations after the memory of the Eldar has faded from Middle-earth."

"Truly, Mithrandir?"

"Truly, for as long as Arda endures, the sea will sing the echo of its creation and those with ears to hear with respond and their spirits will be called to the echoes of the Great Music ."

I am a huge fan of fics drawing links with our modern world; this sounds like one of those sad and romantic myths about sailors falling in love with the sea as though she were a woman. Gorgeous fic, Linda; thank you for sharing.

I come from the North of England and love the sea, so those factors helped to inspire me.

Ooh, very nice! I love Faramir/Gandalf stories; and he is very much the Wizard's Pupil here, in all ways positive.

Author Reply: Thank you, I'm pleased you enjoyed this glimpse of the Wizard and his pupil.

Oh, very nice. I have always loved that little passage about the sea, and this was quite an insightful conversation touching upon it. Thx for writing. :-)

This is lovely, and full of hope. The concept of the Great Music is one that I greatly appreciate.
