Poor Legolas! It's awful stumbling onto something you wish you hadn't. An endearing glimpse of Celeborn & Galadriel. Moments of licit intimacy are always nice. :)

Author Reply: Maybe he was 'meant' to do so? Despite a cool exterior, Galadriel and Celeborn have been in love for a long time, and I like to think they still enjoy intimate moments.

Jenolas,
What a lovely story. It's so reaffirming. You wove a beautiful, even magical, moment of love between two well known characters. Your discription of the landscape was lovely. I thought it was a wonderful celebration of sustaining love and continued affection even after centuries of marriage. Personally, I like the thought that they still saw each other through the eyes of what brought them together in the first place. And it was nice to know they still sought and had intimate moments together. Even Lords and Ladies need love, too. I, also, like the part with Legolas. He was obviously torn between two duties and the weight of what he had witnessed laid heavily on him. I like the way you handled his concerns and the reassurance he recieved from Celeborn and Galadriel. Well done. :>) Karen

Author Reply: Thank you. I agree that even elves who bear great responsibility can take the time for moments of intimacy with their loved ones, be it theor spouse, or distant kin.

Such a lovely intimate piece. The descriptions of the glade are amazing – it sounds so completely idyllic. I loved the depiction of Celeborn as well...mmmmm *smiles blissfully*...

The relationship between Galadriel and Celeborn was drawn beautifully. I like the idea that there’s still a certain freshness to their relationship as well as the shared love that has deepened over the centuries. I really enjoyed the way they tease one another, it shows a wonderful softness to their personalities and a playfulness that really brought a smile to my face.

Poor Legolas – a guest in Lothlorien and he accidentally wanders into such a private moment! When Galadriel seems to have known he would come, I like that Celeborn trusts her enough not to question the intrusion but instead welcomes Legolas and then helps enormously to ease his troubled mind. The faith Celeborn seems to have in Thranduil must have been as reassuring as Galadriel’s promise of aid from the Galadhrim.

I also love the absolute faith in and pride for Aragorn that Legolas displays and his anguish for the death of the dwarves. It shows the foundation of true friendship in the fellowship and commitment to fellow members.

The ending was a wonderfully poignant reminder that victory for the fellowship can only bring sadness for some. It was also a perfect ending to the piece to show the depth of understanding, acceptance and love that Galadriel and Celeborn share.

Author Reply: I am glad you liked this, Dot, and I too like to believe that even an immortal relationship has its moments of whimsy.

Wonderful vignette! I always love Celeborn and Galadriel -- they have an ancient, complex relationship that facinates me. And I enjoyed their comments and reassurance to Legolas. His heart must have been pulled so many directions; Mirkwood was in danger, after all. Yet he stayed the course. Very much enjoyed this story.

Author Reply: Glad to hear you enjoyed this story, and yes they have been happily married for a very long time, and will be for a long time to come!

Very lovely vignette, jenolas. :-)

I liked how you intermingled several fanfiction and canon themes in a small piece. All of the different threads were neatly woven into the conversation. Their inclusion felt very natural; they belonged to the conversation.

Galadriel's love and attraction to Celeborn clearly shone as she watched him. You described it well. And described him well, too! Celeborn is not high on my Favorite Elves list, but after reading your story, I just might have to move him up a couple of notches. LOL
