Heed No Nightly Noises  by Ariel 3 Review(s)

Good gracious, you recommended that I read this fic a long time ago (in a review reply to "A Little Night Music"), and though I reda ti back then, I must not have had time to leave a review. Well, I've finally come back to let you know I really enjoyed this story. Normally, I'm not much of a Frodo fan, however, stories like this one have recently started to make me dislike him less. In fact, I'm beginning to feel sorry for the poor little guy.

The idea of Frodo and Goldberry is an interesting one, but you're right that she was probably the best girl for the job...so to speak. It was a very nice offering from Mr Bombadil!

The Golden Mushrooms should have a category for alternate couple. If they ever to, be assure, I'll be nominating this story :D

Awww! Thanks! You know, over the years I have learned to like every one of Tolkien's characters, even the ones I initially didn't like. I may have a favorite (Frodo) but even the one I disliked upon my first reading (and I won't tell you who that was!) I have grown to admire. It's fine to have favorites - Tolkien wrote skillfully enough that all his characters appealed to someone different - but there isn't a single 'hero' character that isn't someone's perfect hero. You have to admire the man's skill in being able to be able to appeal to so many with one work.

*Blush* Thanks for that compliment about the GMs. I have no idea what the categories will be for next year, but that one sounds like it would be a funny one. I can imagine some of the couples that would be showcased! :o

Author Reply: Just checking out some of the comments on my latest chapter of Fear and remembered this review. Guess what one of the new GM categories this year is?
Yep. Most unusual pairing. LOL!!! Did you have anything to do with that? ;)

Before writing the review, I just have to tell you a quick, funny story. After roaring over from our Yahoo! group to find this story on FF.Net, and finding it wasn't up yet, I checked SOA and found it. And read it. And enjoyed it. Then I promised to review it next time I logged on (I have this weird thing that I like to think about a story before reviewing it.) So the next time I was on FF.Net I figured it would be posted by now and searched under your name to find it. There must have been a dozen Ariels. I searched the six or so most likely, got disgusted and gave up. Arghhh! So now I think I will just review your stories here on SOA. So now that I've grumbled about that...

I truly did enjoy this story. I loved Goldberry's generousity and her idea of hospitality, and Frodo's initial resistance because of his concept of honor. The lyrical style entranced me; very like Tolkien's in that it is like speaking poetry when recited out loud. It was a very sweet interlude, written with great restraint (sigh ... no 'naughty bits'?) and beautiful in its execution.

Author Reply: Thank you, Budgie! I am glad I was able to provide you with some entertainment despite the run around you had to find it! You have most certainly provided me with plenty and I am glad to return the favor.

As for the restraint, I know, it is not my usual :P, but I wanted to stick to a very 'Tolkien' type style and - well, I just CAN'T see the fellow writing a hot love scene! LOL! Even this is probably pushing it, but I tried to stay close to book, in tone at least.

I have PLENTY of 'naughty bits', my dear, but they are archived in places that are more oriented towards het smut. SOA is a classy joint! You'll have to come around back for the really racy stuff!

:D
