Always happy to see Thranduil!

I think this works really well - particularly the epilogue, for I think battles are too often written as only injuring characters we don't know, or that are written for us to dislike.

This makes the horror of the situation much more realistic.

I'm curious as to what the heat-proof cloaks were made of - I wonder if they managed to hang on to one, and find out?

Author Reply: Thank you! It was hard for me to do, but it was necessary to accurately portray what had been lost there.

I'm not certain what the cloaks were made of. But I'm certain that Sauron was capable of coming up with such things, and that it could be something Khamul was working on in Dol Guldur.

I can't see Thranduil keeping such a thing. I have a feeling he would have ordered them all destroyed (although being fire retardant, it may have been difficult to manage it!). The dwarves on the other hand would probably have loved to have had one, and I supposed it's possible Blákári snuck one back to Erebor. :)

Thanks for reading!
