The Distant Shore  by Linda Hoyland 8 Review(s)

Absolutely beautiful. Perfect ending. I, too, have long pondered that phrase about "came there never again as a living man..." This fits perfectly.

Author Reply: Thank you so much. I'm so pleased you liked this. I've pondered about that phrase too.

Oh, yes--they are finally properly reunited, and they look not on pain and grief but instead on even fuller joy.

Lovely!

Author Reply: Thank you so much. I love to think of them enjoying eternal happiness.

Ah, how hearty the greeting given him. And he has done well to go when he did, in blessed peace. Alas for his widow, but she, too, shall be fulfilled in the end.

Oh Linda, this is BEAUTIFUL. I have chills all over me. Thank you for this absolutely lovely image.

I've often been intrigued by the sentence in LOTR, "And taking Frodo's hand in his, he left the hill of Cerin Amroth and came there never again as living man." Not as living man, but surely to meet Arwen there once again.

Author Reply: Thank you so much. I'm thrilled you enjoyed this so much.

I find the wording intriguing too and feel that it means Aragorn returns in spirit.

What a joyful time for Aragorn! Would that we all be so lucky to be so blessed as he and to give back the gift as willingly as he did. Arwen will grieve but then she will know the same joy to be with her husband again and it will be interesting for her to meet Luthien too. You should that as a sequel to this! :) Pretty please?

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.Would that we all indeed were so blessed. I do indeed have a sequel that I hope to post soon.

He felt bathed in love in its purest essence.

This is beautiful. A worthy passage for a worthy man. May we all find the same, when the time for our next Adventure is upon us.

Author Reply: Thank you so much. Amen to that wish.

Very nice! I lost a beloved Aunt this week. Your picture of the shore is quite moving. Thank you.
