Well here is hoping the "elf lover" gets in. They don't need any more hate and discontent. Gwyn and Gareth parents are back with their kind :) Yeah!

I too was shocked and saddened to hear of Fiondil's untimely death. Although I never talked to him, I looked forward to his faithful updates every week. It was comfortable to think that I could count on a steady stream of entertaining chapters, especially as the fandom has changed over the years. Fiondil wrote of the Valar in a way nobody else did, making them real, sympathetic characters. He also had a way of taking those Elven characters who were only names in the background and making them real, relate-able beings in our world. These are real gifts of creativity, offered freely to all of us. There are many others who spoke of how he interacted with them, reviewed their stories, helped them with language. To them, and to his family, if they read this, I offer my sympathies on their great loss, which is also a loss to all of us who will miss his contributions to a fandom we love. Thank you Fiondil, and may you rest in peace in the arms of the Father.

For the Family and friends of Fiondil, May Eru shelter you in His arms during this shadow time. I thank you for the gift of Fiondil's work and I thank the All-Father for his incredible wisdom that is expressed so beautifully in his writing. May Iluvatar be with you always.

I, too had a bad feeling when Fiondil failed to update Monday morning and I was relieved when the update notice finally came. But something felt odd. So, I checked the reviews first and I'm sad to hear the news. I didn't know Fiondil personally, but he was a constant in my life for the last years with his story updates that were the beginning of the weekend for me. He never failed to answer my reviews even years after I sent them if, for whatever reason, he missed them the first time around. His stories helped me cope with the constant changes in my life because they were a fixture I could rely on. His stories made me laugh and cry and because of his stories I was able to read the Silmarillion and finish it.
My condolences go out to his family and close friends and I thank the group of people that will work to bring us the rest of his written work.

Reading so many of the heartwarming reviews, I was reminded of a sung my mother once shared with me (after we've had our share of losing loved ones), which suddenly seemed to fit so much in with the idea's of both love and afterlife Fiondil has shared in his stories.
I wondered about translating it (the original tekst is in Dutch) and then, when I looked up the lyrics, the song was the first to appear in the search field.
Another one of the the ongoing messages in Fiondil's writings has been that there is no such thing as coincidence, and I took this as a sign I just had to do this:

So it will be

Now dim the light and close your eyes
Forget about the struggle
Your life here has passed away too quickly
But your love remains

But where you will go
Sun and moon will be equals
The smallest flower
Is like the tallest oak
And all the kings and children
Will be as equals

Now let the final dream come forth
And don't be afraid anymore
After a lifetime
Your night of peace has come

Where you will go there is no hate nor pain
The largest fire
Will become just as small as a burning candle
The way like the sunshine after the rain
So it will be

The way like the sunshine after the rain
So it will be

And where you will go friend and foe
Will go together
What was dust will turn to dust
And there every storm will calm down again
So it will be

And where you will go I'll let my very heart and soul
Go along with you
Your task here on earth is finished
They way you was in all your love

So you will go

Translating it, I found myself crying again.
'I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil.'

My deepest condolences to Fiondil's family and friends. I sadly, did not know him well, but liked what I did know. He left me some lovely reviews and I enjoyed his Teitho stories. He was a gifted writer and true gentleman and will be greatly missed.May he find eternal joy beyond the circles of the world.

*inhales, then exhales slowly*

I really don't know what I can say, except Ellie, Alassiel, thank you. And Daw - thank you all for making the rest of the story available to us. Thank you for finding out the truth.

I've enjoyed the new chapters, but it's a bittersweet enjoyment, going forward, knowing that from now on the one I regarded as my beloved Atto - *still* regard as my beloved Atto, even if he may be in the Presence now - will never again read my reviews (or anyone else's), never formulate responses. My stomach is in knots, my heart in my throat as I try to swallow down my tears. Atto Fiondil belongs in the Presence of Eru, he deserves to know such divine Joy. I know he was called home because there's work for him to do there, that his purpose here was fulfilled. I have to believe that. But I cannot stop grieving, and I wish there was some way I could tell him, one more time, how much I loved and will always love him. He was the father than my own could not be.

I am so thankful that this story will continue to be made available to us, but it still does not ease the hole in my heart that this loss has left.

Namarie, Atya. Tye-melin.

Yours always,

Kaylee

Sat here with tears in my eyes. I regularly read Fiondil's stories and was worried on Monday. I only occasionally left a review and am saddened that this will not be read by him. Since I first discovered this archive his stories have been amongst those I have read a lot. So sad to think that after what he has written in front has been posted there will be no more. R.I.P. Fiondil.
