Not sure how I missed this when it was first published. I love this little character study. Brilliant work! Are you still writing LOTR at all?

Hmm, somehow I missed this one! I'm sensing a theme with your fic -- "Geez, I so wish this could be continued!" Seriously love everything you write. An Aragorn fan's dream.

Oh, this was just lovely. Truly, I love seeing Elrond come to terms with Aragorn's growing up.

(And I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he tells his older sons that he'll be leading the next expedition, LOL!)

I appreciate the desire to protect the young Man, and the realization that the time had come to allow him his first patrol in spite of his apparent youth. And LOVE that Elrond fetched that arrow and saw it back into the quiver. Hopefully it will continue to serve Estel well for many years to come, and that it proves the harbinger of many, many more successes in the boy's future.

And what poignant pain it must have caused to see his sons put aside their grim purpose to appear carefree as they approach their young, mortal brother.

I greatly enjoyed when the twins' hearts and spirits grew lighter and more merry in Estel's presence.

But this...

Meanwhile, Elrond was left, like his mother, standing on the shorelines waiting for the ones he loved to come home.

I feel I know Elrond better from reading this. Thank you for this marvelous, insightful story.

I imagine how hard it must be to let go of someone whom you have raised and loved as your own son. I have no children, but my younger brother has four kids, and he is now 36 years old. But when he visits, I still can't help babying him (despite his protests). I almost wish he had not grown up, that we were still living together as a family...sometimes it can be so hard to accept that we have grown up.

Yes, definitely I can sympathize with Elrond!

Author Reply: Thanks for reviewing! I'm glad Elrond felt relatable in this. I think a lot of people have gone through this. I know I do every time I see my younger cousins turning into teenagers before my very eyes. ;)

I'm glad you enjoyed this story.
