Nice story. It makes Aragorn seem more real somehow.

This is awesome! I love the opening scene. I can actually see it in my mind... like a movie.
Another one to print and reread over and over again!

I love this. Great scene between Aragorn and Elladan. Piece by piece you unveiled the backstory of Aragorn being wounded and hiding in his tent. It felt so real.

Author Reply: Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the gradual introduction of backstory; that was tough to write. I'm glad you enjoyed the finished product!

I like this conversation, and always enjoy scenes with Aragorn and one of the twins. Painful memories of Arathorn can never be far away, but I really like the difference you've shown in how Elladan and Elrohir deal with them.

Author Reply: Thanks for the great review! I'm glad you appreciated the contrast between the twins.

This is a great story. It really had to be hard for the twins to witness the death of lord after lord of the north. To be strong in the faith that Aragorn would not be the last, but would fight and survived and conquer...

Nicely written. I could 'feel' the characters.

Author Reply: I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I can't even imagine what it must be like for the Half-Elven, losing so many of their mortal "kinsmen" over the centuries. I'm glad that carried through and that the characters worked for you.

Thoughtfully written, and thought-provoking. They also served... were it not for their faithfulness, Aragorn would not have stood there, to ask the question in hope rather than regret or wistfulness. It is good to remember the ones who went before, even if their names have been lost, for the results of their deeds still stand.

Thanks for the food for thought.

Author Reply: Well said! Thank you for the lovely review.

I find I can appreciate the responses of the twins to this wounding of their current foster brother, particularly in light of what happened to Aragorn's sire. Love the attempt to describe and explain Arathorn to his son, and the care given to allowing Aragorn to appreciate that he does not need to hide his wounds.

Well done, MP!

even a losing war is a war not yet lost. You have been taught the hidden history of the Dúnedain, but I remember another history—one of glory and of peace. When the days seem dark, remember you are heir to that history also.

What a wise and encouraging thing to say. I enjoyed this scene, and conversation, very much.

Author Reply: Thank you so much! I tinkered with that line a lot, so I'm glad it worked in the end.
