I admit, I've been avoiding reading any Fili, Kili or Thorin deathfic, but I'm so glad I found yours. You rendered the last moments of Kili's life so well, and more importantly, you've bookended it with an account of what waits beyond, the thing that adds such hope to the death themes in Tolkien's works. "As Kíli still clasps his brother's hand, the three of them are connected once more..."-- just beautiful.

This was absolutely awe-inspiring. I could visualize it so clearly as I read (and I must admit to reading it from a Book-verse perspective, because my mental images of the dwarves are not those of the film) and I really liked the last conversation that Kili and Thorin shared. And even though you did not write the reunions that are forthcoming, in the halls of the ancestors, I could see them too. Well done! :-)

This is so poignant and beautiful-- wonderful gap-filler and tender moment between kin. Thank you for writing this. This is awesome.

You are definitely right on with this one, and glad to see something from you! Welcome back! I wish I had as much command of Spanish (the one language I've studied beside my own) as you do of English! I can so readily envision this!

Rather splendid, sad, and I loved it. Thank you.

Beautiful, sad, and hopeful--in other words, completely Tolkienish in the way of a world where love and grief are ever mingled, and joy and sorrow are like swords.

We could have done nothing else, and it was our greatest honour to stand and fight at your side in this battle. This is beautifully written, and very believable. Author Reply: Thank you very much!

I think that you have written the scene as I would like to see it when we get to the last film - and it is good to think of them together in the Hall of Waiting. Author Reply: I've always regretted that there were just those short hints in the book about what happened to Fíli and Kíli - I always liked them a lot from the glimpses we see during the quest. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
