A wonderful gap filler. You manage to write a deliciously humourous story while illustrating at the same time Aragorn's perseverance and his capacity in Tolkien's word to "explore the heart of men, both evil and good."

Well done!

Very nice tale. You are skilled at presenting points of view of people from other lands seeing The West and the characters we know so well from canon. I liked how Fadil evolved as the story went on, very believable! Using Aragorn's healing skills as an entre into this society was a brilliant idea, too. And camels are nasty creatures, from all I hear! One question: which "dear friend" has Belzager had to leave? I can think of several but wondered which particular one you had in mind when writing that. Excellent story!

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you enjoyed my story and it worked for you.Aragorn was thinking of Ecthelion when he referred to his friend. I've depicted their friendship in "A Disgrace to Gondor" and "The Best Laid Schemes".

Be gone, you louse, I am a fountain!

Without a doubt the funniest line I've ever read from you!

This is good; really good! I wasn't sure at first if this was 3rd or 4th age; could have gone either way with remarks about Corsairs. But once in to the story, with the grey eyed healer it became obvious this is our wonderful Aragorn on errantry.

I really liked the play of dichotomy here: the difference in clothing, weather conditions, language and customs. It shows you put a lot of thought and possibly research in to your story. It wears well and I like the fit.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you enjoyed this story and it made you smile. I tried to give the reader hints who the healer was while keeping Fadil's POV. Aragorn mentions his time with the merchant in "Tongues of Men and Angels" on this site and "East is East" at

This is a wonderful story. Belzager brings out the best in so many people he meets, and increases his learning and experiences in exchange.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed this.I think in all his guises Aragorn managed to do good.
