Oh, I love this, especially the dynamic between the brothers. This Attercop song is inane and I can't blame Legolas for developing a headache when thinking about it. Girithron is also excused for thinking his brothers lost their mind.

Interesting story so far! I like Legolas' siblings, and that the king has more reason for locking up Thorin. Nits to pick: spiders don't sting (bees sting, using modified ovipositors - needles on their butts which fertile females use to deposit eggs - equipped with venom sacs) Spiders bite, using chelicerae (jaws) tipped with hollow fangs, also with venom glands. Sorry to be pedantic.

Thoroughly enjoyed the battle scenes in this chapter, Estel! The action moved along quickly and was filled with unexpected circumstances to keep my attention focussed on the events at hand. I liked the introduction of a strange and unidentified character with his clever song! I also liked the way you worked in greater numbers of elves, yet more original characters for me to hopefully see more of in the coming pages. All in all, another nicely written chapter! :-)

Ah, but the Hobbit spider-baiting song has them stymied! Heh! Author Reply: I start chuckling every time I think about this particular situation. I bet Bilbo would have gotten a real kick out of this if he'd known the confusion he was creating beyond the spiders!

Bilbo makes his (non) appearance and for not the first time, baffles everyone. Since you did not give us his version of his doings, I was forced to re-read that part of The Hobbit.... Author Reply: I don't know if those poor elves are ever going to figure out the source of the singing : ) At least, they won't in this story! Glad to make you reread, that's always a bonus when writing a gap-filler!

Great battle scene, but no, I certainly wouldn't want to render the Attercop Song into Sindarin either. LOL! Those Elves are going to be spending a great many ages wondering just who was singing. This is so much fun, seeing these so familiar scenes from the other side, as it were. Looking forward to more. Author Reply: Wow, Fiondil, it never occurred to me that the Attercop Song would have to be translated! That is pretty funny. Glad you're enjoying the story so far!
