Thank you for a great story! Normally I avoid AU but this one was delightful. I think my favorite moment was when he met Thranduil. And when I realized "who" was Beleg I shouted out loud. Great tale!

Sadly the story is over. I love the way you brought Beleg into the mix. This was a very enjoyable story. Since I started reading it so late, there was no gap in between chapter.

Thank you.

Now, what to read next?

Thingol is a sly fox. It will be interesting to see what developes between Mablung and Haldir. (Please excuse any misspelling of names. I should have written them down before posting my reply.)

P.S. I'm still in shock over the loss of Fiondel. I shall greatly miss his postings. It seems that people aren't writing much anymore. Thank goodness for the archives.

I was absolutely shocked when I got your response saying that Fiondel had passed away. What happened? I just emailed him and wondered why I didn't get a response. I am sick at heart about this.

Wow! How awesome to meet Lord Ulmo in person and receive his blessings. Haldir should be on cloud nine so to speak.

Author Reply: Given the circumstances, I think Haldir was just plain relieved to have some good news at last.

I apologize for the delay in my review replies. I was hit far harder than expected by Fiondil's passing and then I fell and broke my shoulder and injured my wrist a few days ago. Sometimes life sucks and then gets complicated. ACK! Your reviews have been a most welcome bright spot in this in all of this.

Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing! I hope you continue to enjoy the story!

This was a fun read. Poor Haldir, getting hit with a live fish. LOL He might as well give up and get married. It will be good for him.

As a devoted reader of Fiondel's stories, I noticed that you were one of his proof readers so I decided to read one of your stories which I am doing. I am very much enjoying this tale even though I am still angry with PJ for taking the elves to Helm's Deep and getting so many of them, including Haldir, killed.

Author Reply: I am glad you are giving my story a read. I did not like PJ killing the elves at HD either, so I did something about it! LOL I hope you continue to enjoy the story.

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Thank you for a great story. To me, the earthy and intense personality of the movie Haldir does seem to belong rather in the Silmarillion than among the weary and melancholic third-age Elves.

Apart from that, there are so many things about your tale I simply love: the interesting idea of time travel in ME, not one but two explanations for the time travel, world-building (the life under the stars with its culture and customs), culture clashes between the different groups of the Eldar, fun cameo appearances of notable Silm characters. I also like how Beleriand experiences have mellowed Haldir's somewhat arrogant and abrasive personality into that of a sage and tolerant leader. And it seems that his equally proud son is beginning the same learning curve and is on the way of becoming the great and wise hero we know from the Silm.
A fun epilogue with lots of embarassed royalty.

Author Reply: I apologize for the late reply. When one's To Do list includes, among other things, building an ark, you know it's been a crazy summer so far...

I'm pleased you enjoyed this story so much. Haldir does indeed have a lot of life and attitude in him to be a Third Age elf :-) It took a very long time (years) to write this story because of the very little that is known about the pre-First Age elves and about the Galadhrim in general. I had a lot of guessing and piecing together to do to figure out how the early version of these elves might have behaved, and how much the Third Age elves had been influenced by the other clans with whom they had interacted, and then determine the conflicts which would have arisen. Watching Haldir change through all of this has been fun. I had to lay ground work for his son's development so that it was logical that he became who he did and yet not be obvious about it.

The epilogue was just plain fun to write, I have to admit. Thank you so very much for reading and enjoying and telling me your thoughts.

Cheers!
