I almost feel sorry for Denethor here; he still can't win; and for Denethor, I think winning is crucial. A lively story with good character interaction.

Lovely story. I remember my father doing something similar once he realized that he could not stomach much alcohol anymore. They gave him tea of the correct color instead of brandy... Was very effective ;-). Denethor underestimates Thorongil. He thinks as the son of the Steward he knows more about good wine and strong alcohol than some stranger from the North. He is so wrong.
