You know, Jay, I would be very happy to beta the next chapter...

Author Reply: EEP! I'd almost forgotten this story, it's been such a long time since I updated it. My muses seem to have fled, but I must try to resolve this little problem of Elrohir's :(

Thank you for still being interested!

This looks to be an interesting story. Elrohir and Elladan are wonderful characters to write as the Good Professor just gave us the barest bones, upon which our imaginations can build an amazing variety of tales. :)

I like the descriptin of Elladan jumping when Brithil surprises them. It's kind of fun to think that some elves are more talented in the "move silently/surprise them" department.

Poor Elrohir. You'd think that, as old as he is, he'd have learned not to jump to conclusions! But when one brings love into the picture, people tend to lose their common sense. *grin* I can think of a half dozen reasons that Taniquel and Brithel would be smiling at each other like that, and none of them have anything to do with them being espoused to each other.

I look forward to seeing how this tale continues. Well done!

Author Reply: I've always written Legolas as being far more 'wood-elfy' than the twins, and his people are equally at home in the trees. It's not the first time they've been startled by someone dropping silently out of a tree :)

There are a lot of theories about Taniquel and Brethil. All I'll say is that Elrohir is somewhat mistaken!

And are appearances again being deceiving, I wonder? Not every female warrior would be Taniquel, after all! And just how far along is Brithil's wife?

Author Reply: How visible would an elven pregnancy be?

You'll have to wait to find out.

First, I am so glad you are writing this plot line. I am looking forward to the rest of this story.

Now, on to the review. Poor Elrohir! He is too upset to think about whether or not Taniquel looks pregnant.

If I understand correctly, Elrohir hasn't seen Taniquel since before his mother was taken by the orcs. That's a long time. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I may be forgetting something. Also, Elrohir mentions that Brithil seems very young. Perhaps he is Taniquel's younger brother, born since Elrohir last visited. I hope so.

I have to agree with Elladan's wet warg comment. A wet warg would indeed look pretty miserable. Plus, it's a pretty funny mental image.

Great start to this story. I enjoyed it.

Author Reply: You make some interesting guesses, but I couldn't possibly comment. You'll just have to wait and see!

I think Elrohir has been doing some more jumping, this time to conclusions!
I have a sneaky feeling that Brithil is not married to Taniquel.
Do I see a betrothel in the future for Elrohir?

How nice to see these guys again! It's interesting to speculate about what Ithilien was like, who might have gone with Legolas. As a Thranduil lover, I laughed at the little glimpse of him trying to offload Lanatus and then denying he'd done it.

I love the idea they're growing grapes. And children swimming in the pools! It all seems so perfect--except for personal loss and love recognized too late. Maybe. We'll see where you're headed.

Author Reply: I've been trying to write some parts of this story for over three years now! I'm glad it's finally coming together.

I doubt it would have been a large colony, Thranduil wouldn't have been able to spare many elves (apart from Lanatus, that is!) I'm glad you like the grapes - it seemed a suitable place to grow them, and a lot of the detail came from a vineyard tour I took a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the review, Daw!
