Greetings, I wanted to nominate this for a MEFA but I don't see your name there (unless it's misspelled as Cirtene) and I can't add you without an email address. Would you be able to provide me one? You can email me privately at FrodoandSam@knittedsouls.com if you don't want to reveal it here. I would love to be able to bring this wonderful tale to eyes that may not have seen it before. I still hope you will write a sequel!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: As I found out, my username *was* misspelled-no wonder you couldn't find me
:-) But still, thank you so much, I was so flattered!

Whoa! This is so wonderful and sad and heartbreaking, love Sam's tenderness and Merry's begging. If the pity of Bilbo ruled the fate of many, it is Sam's that rules the fate of all, at least in the book and maybe in this. You really continue this!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thanks! Glad it worked for you. Here's hoping that Tolkien doesn't find me in the next life and kick me in the kneecaps;-)

So good a reason for Frodo to seek to go on alone. All too likely that such things might have happened, such deep losses. And I certainly appreciate why Sam now wants to be well away from the Big Folk--they've been naught but trouble.

Author Reply: *Thank you for reading, sorry my reply is so slow!*

And aren't we all soooo glad that Sam managed to go with Frodo, while Merry and Pippin played their equally important parts elsewhere-'cause I sure am. A Sam without trust in his 'elders and betters', a Sam full of vengeance, without hope...Feel free to kick me hard. Never mind, I'm still kicking myself.

I like dark AUs like this, particularly if Sam's personality is left more or less intact - and you did that. Very nice. Despair and steadfastness make interesting and strange bedfellows. Lots of good lines but my favorite has to be the last one. Thanks.

Author Reply: Looking back on this, I'm a bit embarrassed at how relentlessly darkity dark dark it turned out-Tolkien would smack me-but thank *you* for reading.

Oh! Oh that hurts. But it's beautifully written, and you've captured Sam so perfectly.

And the last line? Perfect.

Author Reply: Aw, thanks so much. Though I kinda want to reach back in time to my younger self that wrote this and give her some chocolate and a pep talk, 'cause wow, she must've been having a baaaaad week;-)
