Sam's Burden  by PipMer 6 Review(s)
HolbytlaReviewed Chapter: 2 on 11/14/2011
Aw, I feel for Sam. It's hard to miss a friend...especially a friend like Sam has in Frodo. There's really another "intangile something" he ought to be blaming all this misery on, although it's like him to be a bit too prone to direct his anger at himself.

I hope that you finish this story if you get a chance! I would love to read the end.

Dealing with grief can be such a tough row to hoe. But he does have the support of a very good woman, and the love of Frodo to see him through it all.

I can see how the visit from Merry and Pippin at Yule might have been a bit much, though.

Oh dear, I hope the coming visit isn't too hard on Sam. He should speak his feelings; the others might share them, after all.

Poor Sam! He does indeed have his own burden to bear; but he is beginning to realize that perhaps it's not quite the same burden he thought it was. I really like the way you showed his "hobbit sense" kicking in at the end...

Author Reply: Thank you, DW! And guess what, I have to give credit where credit is due... Elanor read my draft, and suggested I add something about plain hobbit sense, otherwise Sam would be out of character :D

It does tend to be the "if-onlies" that get us in the end. Poor Sam. They do come. But he will find healing, too.

Author Reply: That he will. Thank you for reading :D

Poor Sam. He must have gone through every emotion after Frodo left, and for years to come. I look forward to reading more.

Author Reply: Thank you, shirebound! I'm working on chapter 2.
