| Oh, I like this one! A sharp, succinct exploration of the undercurrents beneath Aragorn's choice to heal Faramir. What irony, that the man who most needed Aragorn's help was the one who could block, or at least forestall, Aragorn's claim to the kingship of Gondor and thus also his marriage to Arwen. Aragorn could well have been aware of all that when he made that fateful choice in that hour of Destiny... It has always struck me as a supreme irony that Aragorn is hailed first as King and recognised as such by the people by saving the one man who stood in his way in Gondor! | |

| I really loved this drabble, seeing Aragorn's thoughts as he had to choose whether or not to save Faramir. I had never linked it to the struggle between not claiming the ring and taking it. But I liked that a lot. It seemed fitting, especially considering the (movie!) scene where Arwen tells Aragorn not to fear the past and that he is Isildur's heir, not Isildur himself.
