This is a very lovely story. But you forgot that Celeborn his Great Grand father stay behind.
Ecan

Author Reply: Yes, I am sure that Celeborn will add many more stories in his visits, especially once Eldarion will be older. ;)
Thank you for your review. :)

How I, too, have felt that he would make this vow.

Although Eldarion will be able to know his great grandfather, for at least Celeborn remains in Middle Earth at the time, as do his mother's brothers. There are ties to his ancestors, and Celeborn can tell him much of his Elven grandmother, and even his mother and uncles as children. And perhaps also of that great ancestress Luthien, and Great-Uncle Elros....

Lovely, Ellynn.

Author Reply: Yes, there are many tales Eldarion will hear, and I'm sure he will love them. :)
Thanks for your nice review, Bonnie.

I so enjoyed beta'ing this story, and now have enjoyed reading the final version even more. You capture Aragorn's compassion and wisdom as a father perfectly, and Eldarion is beyond adorable. I loved the moment when Aragorn took his son in his arms and moved to the couch for a cuddle, and I especially liked the line, "But it will happen, we will see that day." which shows the deep faith Aragorn held and how it shaped his life and decisions.

Really well done!

Author Reply: Awww, thank you so much! *big happy smile*
I can't imagine Aragorn as father in any other way then gentle, as I told you. :) That was my guide in writing this story. I am really glad you like it.
Thanks again - you've just made my working day better. :)

What a lovely story! You captured Aragorn's complexemotions and Eldarion's innocence beautifully. Why Elrond couldn't stay to see his first grandchild has puzzled me too at times.

Author Reply: Yes, it made me wonder too, so I tried to think about it. If Elrond stayed to see his first grandchild, then he'd probably want to stay more to see if there would be more. After the second, I suppose he'd want to see if there would be more, etc. After that, he would probably want to see their children. But time would be inevitably passing, Aragorn would age and die, and I am sure Elrond wouldn't want to see Aragorn die, let alone to be there to see final moments of Arwen's life... :( So I guess that he simply had to leave after the War of the Ring. After all, he really did experience many losses. :(
Thank you for reading and reviewing, I am glad you like the story. :)

Dear Ellyn: This was a good story. Elessar does a good job of explaining difficult concepts to his very young son, and the reader is allowed to see and sympathize with his emotions as he does so. You did a good job of writing. Thank you for posting it. Sincerely, Darkover

Author Reply: And thank you, Darkover, for reading and writing! I tried to write Aragorn's explanations in a way that I imagined how I would explain those things to a child.

he uttered them merely as the beginning of their talk, wanting his son to know that his world would always be full of love, and that safety he felt now would never be broken nor disturbed

What a lovely line. This is a very gentle and loving tale, and Aragorn's words to his son were just perfect. There will be so much time, later, for a fuller story and understanding.

Author Reply: Thank you, I am glad you think so! :)
