Such a sensitive and insightful story of a boys and parents worries and I can understand Estels thoughts.Often when I read stories of you with a small or teenaged Estel in them I think of my own son and his worries. For a period they have been a bit of a similar character as Estels in some ways. But I assure you we dont have any secretive relatives of royal blod in my family hahaha!Thank you so much for a wonderful story!

Author Reply: Thank you so much! It's always lovely to know that my interpretation of children rings true, and never moreso than with this most important child. Poor Estel: it's not easy being fourteen under any circumstances, but his bewilderment about his parentage must only add to that. I'm so glad you liked the story.

::insert deep sigh of awesome proportions here:: You do this to me every time I open a story of yours; steal my breath with both your prose and your wonderful insights, incite tears of joy (sometimes just over an exquisite turn of phrase, but often over the incredibly powerful emotions you evoke in each story), and leave me panting for more more more Canafinwe.

I went through nearly an entire box of tissues as Elrond slowly and on-so-deliberately (and exquisitely) drew out Estel's understanding of the unfathomable depths of love in all its many incarnations. Only after reading the story did the title of it sink in. You are my hero!

I was so delighted to find this story here - and posted recently, because I've been trying to track you down for permission to podcast some of your stories. It has become my new passion and I would dearly love to do this one, in addition to Beneath the Surface and Lonely Watches. If you would like a preview of something else I've done before agreeing, I'd be happy to send a snatch or two of a couple of different stories.

Author Reply: What a beautiful review. I'm humbled, and absolutely delighted that you thought so highly of it.

I'm afraid it was just about the last thing I posted before vanishing off the face of the internet! If you are still interested in doing the podcasts you absolutely have my permission. I would love to hear them if you do.

Oh - what a gem! A beautiful story, having a deep impact... With no children ofmy own, it gives me a clue to one or two relationships I've marveled about-and still am in awe of, whwn I ponder them.
Thank You for sharing it!

Author Reply: You're so very welcome, and thank you for your kind words! I love to explore the relationship between Elrond and Aragorn, so I simply had to write this.

I enjoyed reading this at ff.net, and I think I enjoyed it even more as I re-read it here this morning. Such a poignant moment between foster son and foster father, believably told with wisdom and sensitivity. I love to think that Estel and Elrond had a moment like this to look back upon and to anchor them when darkness fell around them, and even between them. And of course, I love Elrond's recitation of Estel's strengths and why he loves each aspect of the young man.

Simply a beautiful vignette. I'm so glad you wrote it.

Author Reply: You're always so good to me. I'm so glad you liked this story; it was so lovely to write.
