Across Arda's Ages  by Rhyselle 13 Review(s)

Next time I go to Disneyland, and I ride that ride, I'll be thinking of Legolas, and it'll be all your fault! LOL! Although I don't mind thinking of Legolas...or Thranduil! Hee! My Sindar...:)

LOL! This story is still a hoot on the nth reading. This is priceless. But didn't you mean Horseless Carriage? That vehicle certainly has a motor!

Author Reply: Yeesh! I proofread it a dozen times and I never caught that! I've fixed it. Thank you!

I love this image of Thranduil of Toad Hall, immensely!

Author Reply: *grin* This seems to be the most popular of the drabbles so far. I'm so glad you are enjoying this!

I dread to think what will happen when Thranduil learns of aeroplanes!! This was a hoot!

Author Reply: Hmmmm.... You keep giving me ideas. I work near the Huffman Prairie east of Dayton where the Wright Brothers gave flying lessons in what is now Wright-Patterson Air Force Base... I wonder if Thranduil ever was a guest at Orville's home at Hawthorn Hill? Hmmmm....

I, too, can see this so well! Love the inspirations for it, and truly feel with Legolas here! Heh!

Author Reply: Poor Legolas! In my head, sometimes I think that Legolas must wonder if his father is going through a second childhood at this time.

Too funny! I can just see Thranduil tearing around with his new toy, and white-knuckled Legolas. You capture the beginning of a higher-tech, faster, age very nicely; and Legolas' reflections keep us grounded in Tolkien's mythology despite the time and place.

Author Reply: I still grin when I visualize this drabble. I was thinking that it wasn't the technology that freaked Legolas out, as much as his father's reckless enthusiasm! From what we do see of Thranduil in canon, I have a feeling that during the dark years before Sauron was extinguished for good, he wasn't one to take reckless chances, but he was also not one to simply and quietly slip away from Middle-earth. So I can see him being a trifle more personally adventurous by the 1890s. *grin*

OMG, what a wonderful drabble. I adore Jael's "Not Fade Away" stories, and this fits in so well. I had visions of Toad behind the wheel and Otter jumping out of his way. Then it was a simple transposition to put Thranduil behind the wheel. Obviously Legolas was far braver than my more sensible Otter. Loved it!

Author Reply: I'm so very glad you enjoyed my drabble. I think this is my favorite so far. I don't know about Legolas being braver than dear, sensible Otter, but he will probably ride in it again, just for love of his father, even if it is a hair-raising ride then too. :) Thanks for reviewing!
