| Abandonment by brother, and left to watch over his nephews as if he were the eldest of them. It would be difficult to face in any case. I grieve that he never saw parents or brother again, or not in a recognizable form. Author Reply: This was more angst than I usually dabble with. Círdan’s character moves me deeply because he survives through age after age but loses everyone he cares for most. | |

| Most interesting exchange, and to think that Nowe did break those three promises. Interesting dynamics to this family. Author Reply: Thank you Larner! I think Nowe was not one to sit on his bum and twiddle his thumbs, and promises do get stale after a few hundred years! | |
