Ithilien,
I really liked this chapter (1)a lot.It was extremely exciting and really built up the suspense and momentum for the next few chapters. It was action-packed (which is always a good thing when you are already familiar with the setting and there really isn't much novelty). You are obviously a good writer. The pain described here had a lot of impact--the physical pain and the emotional pain at the loss of the elf's two friends--the feverish bewilderment of the elf was heart-breaking

Eww...good writing, but it was a little gory. Not that I mind in the case of good writing, like this. I can't wait to see where this goes!
Best of luck,
Namarie,

Ithilien,
I figured since I am new to this story, I would just babble as I go along.
Boy! You really had me going there for a while. I thought the men were chasing Legolas. When the talon struck him in the eye, I wondered how we were going to fix that. (How good a healer is that scruffy mortal anyway?) Then I felt bad that I was relieved that it wasn't the Fair One. Poor unnamed elf. Then the ending.....mother will not be pleased! (Norman! Norman, honey is that you? Will you flip on the Motel sign while you're up?) Okay, I got creeped out. Your descriptions were very ...well...visual. I consider that very good. You built an excellent tension and lots of questions to be answered. (But I'm still not sure I want to meet Mama. I think I'm afraid of her.) Now that I'm wound up tight as a rubber band, I'm shooting off to the next chapter.......> Karen
