Orcs At School  by Virtuella 5 Review(s)

Chuckle....... many thanks for this glimpse of orcish schooling! It's so nice to see a dedicated teacher working so hard with his pupils! And his concern for those two young ones, why he should be in the running for Teacher of the Year! I'm sure the orcs must have something like that......maybe the winner gets a nice blood spattered trophy and a vacation at the Barad Dur.....and a personal meeting with the Dark Lord himself or the chief of the Nazgul! I loved this vignette! ;)

Author Reply: Now, that would be a brilliant idea - will you write it? Thanks for reviewing.

Intriguing look at orcling schooldays. Some things don't change from race to race (or species to species); and some things change a lot!

Author Reply: Thank you! When you come to think about it, they /must/ learn something. Tolkien tells us that they built all sorts of despicable machinery, well, despicable or not, that takes some engineering skills!

Hi Virtuella! I read this story on the Yahoo group before discovering it here and finding it with this penname gave me an 'oh!' moment as you can see on the other review LOL! I just wanted to mention what I forgot in the other review...this reminds me so much of an ordinary classroom, except for obviously the orc-ish twisted ways! which was the intent, but my mom's a teacher so I could just see it! you got me giggling so much. Thanks for an excellent read!

Author Reply: Well, I'm a teacher, too, hence...
My pupils are, of course, always lovely. :)
Thanks for reviewing.

And at the end of the day, not one orkling in the class had been maimed or eaten? Appalling!

Author Reply: Appalling, eh? In the Orcish sense or the common one? :P
Actually, I had initially planned to have them use pupils rather than dummies for disembowelling practice, but in the end I didn't have the heart, and it wouldn't have fitted the tone of the story anyway. And one wee orc /did/ go home with a cracked lip... Thanks for reviewing.
