I see another reader referred to you as "randy", which is the name I was alluding to, among the readers (and you were a most Thoughtful Reader (not a name, a description)) in that universe. So I am presuming that my guess was correct. ;)

Hi ya Randy! Nice to see you here at SoA! :) Love this one. Great emotions. So much conveyed in so few words. Nicely done. Author Reply: Thank you! I'm gratified (and a little surprised) to be here.

What a sad, poignant farewell. I think you've caught the grief of the characters perfectly, and compounded it by Legolas's sea-longing. Jay Author Reply: Thank you. I always found the ending in the Appendices very sad, with Arwen riding north and Legolas sailing. This somber poem fit so well.

And such love each held for him. Poignant. Author Reply: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.

Beautifully written... (though after reading that third section there is only one universe that comes to my mind... and I am now wondering if you were one (particular) Thoughtful Reader of that universe). Author Reply: It's possible -- there are so many possible universes -- although I never went by the name of Thoughtful Reader. I'm glad you liked this.

Very beautiful, I like the way you used the quotes. Author Reply: Thank you. This poem, when I found it, was just too perfect not to use.

That's a very poignant and beautifully written farewell between two who are so similar, and yet share such dissimilar fates. I was especially moved by Legolas' acknowledgment of the 'two smaller beds'. *sniff* Author Reply: Hurrah -- my first review! Thank you for noticing the mention of Merry and Pippin's small biers. It must have been very hard for Legolas to lose them one by one.
