The Sell-sword and the Prince  by Lady Bluejay 10 Review(s)
StefaniaReviewed Chapter: 1 on 1/12/2010
Lady Bluejay, I am rubbing my hands together with glee after reading the first chapter of your story. A pre-Ring War story starring Imrahil in his youth, Aragorn, Denethor--the mind boggles. These are some of my favorite Tolkien characters, and you've gotten them off to an excellent start. I'm eager to read your next chapter.

BTW, you use the term "sell-sword." The author George R.R. Martin uses that term in his series "A Song of Ice and Fire." Have you ever read "A Game of Thrones" and the other books in that series? If so, did you know that HBO/BBC are creating a miniseries based on those books, starring Sean Bean and Jennifer Ehle? I'm so excited.

And I am quite excited about your new story.

Author Reply: Hi Stefania.

I do hope you enjoy the rest of the story - thanks a lot for reviewing.

I don't know the books at all, but have now looked them up. Will order the first one to read and see how I get on. Anything with Sean Bean in is usually good - so I shall look forward to that. LBJ

I'm looking forward to following this one, LBJ. A young man having to follow a mercenary doesn't sound comfortable--but I suspect Captain Thorongil will surprise him!

Author Reply: Well, I have always had this feeling that they must have met before - because Imrahil - Gondor's highest vassal - accepted Aragorn's claim as king so quickly.

There just had to be a story in it.

Thanks for reviewing.LBJ

Great start to your story. Strider in his time as Thoringil and a prince that is going to be married off.

Author Reply: Ha! Well Imrahil won't be married off if he can help it. But when father's and Stewards connive you never know.

Thanks a lot for reviewing. LBJ

Oooh, this looks exciting! I've read many Eomer and Lotheriel love stories, but never anything with Imrahil. I don't expect to be disappointed, as Lady Bluejay never does!

In greatest anticipation,
Galimeril ;D

Thorongil and Imrahil written by Lady Bluejay -- what a treat!

I love this line:

"He didn’t like the set of the princely jaw. It spoke of purpose."

Eagerly awaiting more.

Author Reply: Hi Silmarien,

Thanks for your nice review. I admit to liking that line myself.

More will be coming soon.LBJ

Yay! A "prequel", I'm very curious as to how Imrahil will meet his future wife.

Author Reply: Hi Whitewave,

Your curiosity will have to wait through a few chapters yet. I do hope you enjoy the journey. Thanks a lot for reviewing. LBJ

Huzzah, a story from one of my favorite authors with Thorongil and Imarhil. Great Stuff. As usual the 'To be continued' bit has me doing the dummy spit, it came far to soon.

Ah well, anticipation of further chapters will have me checking email every five minutes, take pity on this sorry reader, when can we expect the next chapter?

Author Reply: Hi Casso.

Hopefully the updates will be posted about once a week. Thorongil and Imrahil have been nudging my muse for a long time - I hope I can do them justice,

Thanks a lot for reviewing. LBJ

I really enjoyed reading this. The intereaction between father and son is very well done, and Imrahil comes across as an adventuresome, appealing young man. I loved his secret musings on his father's past, something that repeats Elphir's talk about Imrahil's youth.

That frame is nicely done too. I love seeing Eomer and Lothiriel so happy.

Author Reply: My Eomer and Lothiriels are always happy in their marriages - I like Eomer too much to have it any other way. LOL.

I have never written Imrahil as young man before and feel that even though he might have turned into the enigmatic man, as so often portrayed , he must have had his wilder moments.

Thanks a lot for reviewing. LBJ
