They Paved Paradise  by Narya 2 Review(s)
LarnerReviewed Chapter: 1 on 11/11/2009
What a legacy to have left! Have been through the area, and the remains of the former "Sherwood Forest," which nowadays is barely a woodlot in comparison to what it once was. And have seen the same happen in one lifetime where I live--watched the woods give way to suburbs and highways....

Too realistic! Well done.

Author Reply: Thank you!! I too have visited "Sherwood Forest" - my parents took me and my siblings when we were all quite young, and we couldn't believe it. Nothing like the Lorien-esque woodlands we'd been imagining!

I remember going for walks over the fields across from my house with my uncle when I was small; we used to pretend we we "hobbit spotting." Now, though, those fields are a housing estate :( it's a shame. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Maglor as Robin Hood? I'm intrigued and eager to learn more.

And yeah, paving over paradise is pretty much a typical Mannish action. Fortunately there are still some bits and pieces of rugged wilderness out there, but they have to be protected by law, and they certainly don't have all the proper emotional associations.

Author Reply: Hey, Celeritas; thanks for stopping by! I'm glad you liked the story. I was wondering a while ago what the Elves would have made of some of our modern cities - I suspect they'd be impressed by some of them, but less so by others. Thank you for the review :-)
