*Sighs happily* Yes, I remember now why I liked this the first time -- because it's so good! ;-)

Such an important lesson -- that just because I don't understand doesn't mean something is incorrect or invalid...

Author Reply: *blushes* You're very sweet. And yes, it really is an important lesson, isn't it? (Especially for someone destined to befriend a certain Grey Wizard...)

In my-verse Gandalf doesn't become aware of Aragorn's existence until he returns from Erebor with Bilbo, although Bilbo does meet the child, and learns the reason for keeping quiet about him before he returns to the Shire. I can certainly appreciate Elrond's reasoning, and he has now a motive for learning the language of his ancestors.

Well done!

Author Reply: Ah, Bilbo meeting young Estel is such an appealing concept, isn't it? I shall have to go hunting through your stories after Christmas, to find these: they sound fascinating! Long live Burglar Baggins...

Glad you liked the chapter!

Ah wonderful, wonderful chapter! I really can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this. It wasn't just the touching father and son relationship, so beautifully illustrated here, but also all the details that you so seemlessly wove into this story which made these scenes ones of absolute perfection. Thank you!

Author Reply: Thank *you*, Inzilbeth! What lovely feedback. I'm so glad you're enjoying the father-son dynamic. I had a lot of fun with the details, too, so it's nice to know they work well!

Aww...it's a shame he couldn't meet the Dwarves...and a certain hobbit. But of course, Elrond is quite right.

And I just love the way he managed to make young Estel eager to learn Adunaic! Unknown books to be read are a great inducement, as is the story of his long ago pupil!

Author Reply: I'm glad you liked it! I think Elrond must have been an innovative teacher.

It is a shame Estel can't consort with Thorin and Company (and especially Mr Bilbo Baggins!), but saftey first!
