Now, that WOULD be quite the thing to find there, in Elrond's house! An excellent test!

Author Reply: Heh, I'm glad you found it so! And glad again that you took the time to leave a comment, thank you!

I am finding your versions of Erestor and Melinna extremely enjoyable. I had just been thinking last week about the fact that there were many stories about Elrond, Galadriel and Legolas, but very few mentions of any length about Erestor. And here you have given us a new view of him in Wanderlust and now in Goldilocks. Erestor as a Morequendi with a competent partner, Melinna, how perfect is this. These stories are becoming highly anticipated by me and I can't wait for each new installment. In canon, somehow it seems that Elrond manages to get Erestor to settle down in a single location, and considering his long-held wanderlust, your explanation of that is going to be interesting :-) Thank you for filling out a character that I have always been very interested in.

Author Reply: Thank you for reading, and even more for reviewing so kindly! It's always so reassuring to hear people like my version of Erestor; most of my stories do touch in some way on (my version of) his life, so it would spoil my fun a bit if people didn't. I'm so glad you're enjoying the stories!

(It's funny that you should mention Elrond getting Erestor to settle down -- I do have An Ending in mind, in fact I've had it in mind since before I started writing Wanderlust; but I still haven't got around to writing it and it may be the last serious bit of fanfic I ever write, so it's probably quite a long way off. We'll see!)

Again, thank you!

I am fascinated by Erestor and Melinna as you have drawn them.

I found myself going 'Of course!' when it became clear exactly why Cirdan asked them to be the guides of Glorfindel and the newly named Mithrandir, even though, like Glorfindel, it hadn't occurred to me as the journey proceeded.

Thank you so much for this story.

Author Reply: Thank you so much for this comment! It's always so reassuring to hear that people like my version of Erestor and Melinna, and it's also reassuring to hear that the twist at the end of this came as a surprise, but not a jarring one, since that's precisely what I aimed for. I'm so glad you're still enjoying the story!

I had half a mind to to say this is your best story yet, but then I thought of Starlight and Nightingales, and of A Beleriand Treasury of Childish Tales, and then I could no longer make up my mind...

You have a wonderful gift for blending together a variety of themes and tones that shift from the starkly poetic to the grin-inducing ironic without any jarring feelings. I also like how your stories are linked together in this loose, casual manner. And Erestor and Melinna - what can I say...

Author Reply: I'm going to sit here and gloat quietly for a moment now, don't mind me. ^^

... yep, still gloating. Thank you for such a kind comment! I am glad everything blends together nicely; I suppose I find it hard to take the world too seriously or too lightly. The loose linking, well, it's more convenient for me to tell the overarching story in snippets and allusive bites, rather than pinning myself down to a single grand epic tale; I save my epic urges for original stuff. Besides, it's always fun to see if people spot the links. And I'm always grateful to hear that people like my version of Erestor and Melinna, no matter how many times they've told me already! :D

*hugs!*
