A sad moment...but full of love. You captured it very well!

“When will you leave?” Pippin’s question came out as a half-sob, but he caught himself and struggled to regain his composure.

“Because I must.”

They didn’t speak of the departure again, but each day thereafter, Pippin kept watch with his heart.

And after a short time had passed, just as before Frodo was unable to creep away without the companionship of his closest kin.

I love this. The pain and the love and all...

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Cathleen, this was so beautifully done, I hardly know where to start. Seamless writing that flows, conversation and actions so natural that you readily believe the reality of the relationship between the two cousins.

As you promised, bittersweet. A likely gapfiller.

I wish I had time to quote, but really, there'd be so many quotes this review might end up longer than the story.

Author Reply: Lindelea, thank you so much for your kind words! I'm very pleased you found it well-written, and that you enjoyed it. I appreciate your taking the time to encourage me!! *Hugs*

This was really well done. Pippin's twinges of upcoming grief are beautifully subtle and well-handled. I liked Frodo's relative serenity and the way that the autumn weather mirrored this period in both their lives.

Author Reply: Much appreciate your thoughtful comments, Celeritas! I'm so pleased to know you liked it!!

Beautiful! So like Pippin, to be able to just know what Frodo was going to do. Great foreshadowing as well, with the conversation about change.

Author Reply: Thanks so much, Traveller. I think Pip has a very good sense about his cousins and others he is close to. Reminds me of my grandmother! *Grin*

Yes, so poignant, and so Frodo and Pippin!

Thanks for this.

Author Reply: So glad you enjoyed it, and thanks so much for your continued support of my writing, Bonnie. It means a great deal to me! *Big Hugs*
