Celeritas' Birthday Bash 2009  by Celeritas 4 Review(s)

He always did have interesting dreams, didn't he and not for nothing either.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Eh, not necessarily... I mean, it is in keeping with his character but we only technically know about the ones he got during LotR. His prescience seems to have increased since then; who knows if it was before.

Apparently in this fic it was, though. ^_^

So you, too, see Frodo as dreaming he was the one in what proved to be Boromir's funeral boat! A sad foretelling that mixes his own fate with that of the Man he will one day know.

Thank you so. Most poignant.

Author Reply: Might have stolen that from you, actually, quite inadvertently. But the parallels to Boromir were secondary; boat funerals are a common enough mythological trope that I think it would show up in Frodo's dream even without Boromir. I'm still not entirely sure what I meant when I was writing this, though.

Yes, yes, I love this very much. I may not understand the verse too much but this was lovely, and the imagery was very nice. Thanks, little one!

--You know who--

Author Reply: Well, no matter what universe there's always something touching about the lonely little boy who's just a bit off and who's already having strange things happen to him that he can't quite understand. *squishes a Frodo*

So young, and yet his prescience is already working on him! Water is such a double-edged motif in LotR, and this depicts so well the dichotomy of it: the element which sunders is also the element which sustains!

Author Reply: Good, I'm glad you're getting some good analysis out of this. I couldn't for the life of me, and I'm the one who wrote it!
