Eclipsed  by Calenlass 7 Review(s)

I can appreciate how the child feels. Alas, to be ill and forced to stay inside, even though he has a means of seeing, too, now! Very nice intimate moment here.

Author Reply: //Alas, to be ill and forced to stay inside,//

I think all of us can identify with this. *grins*

What a loving gift Elrond gave his foster son! Two actually - the eclipse itself and the explanation of why Estel should not feel eclipsed himself.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I never thought of it much as a gift, but it really does seem like it, doesn't it? :)

Thanks for reading!

A lovely story. I think you exploited very well the analogy between the eclipse of the moon, and Aragorn's fear of never achieving the perfection he attributed to the elves. Well done.

Author Reply: I'm glad to hear that the analogy worked out well without being annoying. :)

Such a sweet glimpse of the love Elrond has for Estel. The symbolism of the eclipse and Estel's worries about being lost in the shadows of the "perfect" Elves is a good one. I imagine it was often hard for Estel to come to grips with being different from all but his own mother.

Author Reply: I blame the eclipses on the fact my brother loves talking about them. Sometime after that, I went and looked up "eclipsed" in the dictionary...and the story was born months after that. *grin*

Thanks for reading!

Hi

I think this story is great. Elves and humans aren’t the same, and I liked the way you had Elrond and Estel discussing it.

I once saw an eclipse. I don’t remember it clearly, but it was frightening and interesting the way the moon disappeared. I hope you have a chance to see a good one!

Author Reply: Indeed, they aren't the same.

Ooh, you were lucky to catch that one. I hope I can, too. :)

Thanks for reading.

what a sad and at the same time lovely story. Elrond always knows the right words to say. I would have been hard pressed with the answer to such questions, as this: Eclipses don’t last forever, do they? I loved the emotional moment and it was captured perfectly. Thank you. Lai

Author Reply: And thank you for reading and reviewing. :) This story took a bit of time to write down; I had the basic idea, but not the exact words. It was only after a few months did I manage to piece it together.
