A Crate of Lemons  by ShireDweller 5 Review(s)

This is just too funny! Poor Sam! LOL LOL LOL! And poor Frodo! Really, I didn't know anyone could leave sweetener out of lemon juice, even if they'd never actually tasted it. The very smell is a warning. But then, I've grown up with them, and there weren't any on a regular basis in the Shire. Thank you so much! Please write more!
God bless,
Galadriel

I was so pleased to see "Garden Plot" continued, and even more pleased that the sequel did not fall short of the standards of the original, as so often happens. You managed to infuse this story with the same sweetness of spirit and absolutely perfect dialogue. And Cranky!Frodo is a delight. Best, of course, is Rosie and Sam worrying over him ... you know how we love that. You have a rare gift for writing Frodo h/c, and I hope you will someday gift us with another story to treasure.

Having made lemonade, I did wonder about the sweetening. A lovely gentle touch of humour in this scene.

As in your other piece . . . the characters are lovingly and carefully drawn. Thank you for sharing your talent and your tale.

Do you have more?

Author Reply: 'Lovingly and carefully drawn'? Oh, that makes my day! Especially coming from the author of 'Coming of Age', 'Life is Change', and *sniff* 'When I Come Home.' I do have more. I have dribs and drabbles and several WIPs. After posting one WIP and stalling, I don't dare post anything else incomplete. But it is SO encouraging to know more is wanted! It makes me persevere despite fickle muses who abandon me mid-stream or confuse me with plot twists.

I tend to avoid hobbit stories. I've no idea why, as I always enjoy them when I do read them. This was lovely, very cheerful and a nice story on their life before Frodo left. The hobbits are all nicely in character and I like the idea that Aragorn would send them Lemons from Gondor.

Author Reply: You avoid hobbit stories and yet you read mine? Wow. That's a compliment indeed. Thank you! And I'm glad you like Aragorn sending lemons. We puzzled over how we could make it plausible, and finally decided to leave it a mystery! (We briefly toyed with writing a story in which Elrond mobilizes Corsairs, Mearas, and rehabilitated Fell Beasts to cart those lemons to the Shire, but decided such a story was too much for us!)

Very good! I like that Frodo knew all about lemonade and Sam didn't. Just like he said, he probably didn't get to put one over on Sam and Rosie very often. A nice, cheerful, happy, story - please write more!

Author Reply: That was one of my favorite bits, I'm glad you liked it too. And thanks for telling me you'd like more! It's extremely encouraging (and I can always use encouraging!)
