Too Few Winters  by Shireling 12 Review(s)
Elena TirielReviewed Chapter: 2 on 2/7/2009
A sad but compelling tale, with a hopeful ending. I was in tears when you wrote of the boy's demons (not least because I've suffered from migraine headaches myself), and was pleased that he met such helpful people at the end.

Nicely done, Shireling!

This was a very moving story and held my interest despite a central OC.I loved the way Aragorn and Arwen unite to help the troubled boy.

The poor boy - all the guilt he's carried around. Nevertheless, he's done very well looking after himself and I particularly like the way he shows his morals by leaving game in place of the things he's taken. I'm glad they've finally found him and he's being well-cared for. Very realistic premise, too - a boy his age really wouldn't understand how war works and that the killing of his friend was not his fault. Loved Aragorn and Legolas in this too!

Haleth is now in good hands and though the path forward may yet be rocky at least his guardians will be there to pick him up when he falters.

Intriguing beginning to this tale, Shireling! I love the descriptive "word painting" you've done, and am very curious about who the child is.

This was a delightful tale all the way around and I am glad the Muse decided another Eomer tale was not needed, at this time.

I loved the compassion shone to the boy... Especially Arwen's painstaking kindness. It was delightful to 'see' the boy whisper his name to her.

Lovely tale - very nicely done!

Perhaps Eomer will get to play a bigger part if the muse ever guides us to more of Haleth's adventures!!

Oh, indeed I recognize the boy from the film.

An all too plausible occurance, of course. Am glad that Arwen was able to reassure him enough to allow him to talk once more.

Alas for what he has known, but the future appears much brighter for him.

Author Reply: Hi Larner

Yes, poor Haleth was another hapless victim. But his future now holds hope.

Thank you very much for your support.

An excellent beginning. Love the premise and how Legolas found his quarry. The poor boy, feeling so guilty!
