The Stars That Varda Made  by Kitt Otter 4 Review(s)
RedheredhReviewed Chapter: 1 on 12/18/2008
A very useful study and complilation, Kitt Otter!

One of the most interesting ideas you bring up is that there were ancient stars in the sky before the Trees. ;) That alone gives a more nuanced meaning to the interjection: Varda's Stars!

"The variety resembles the richness of real-life myth."
Well said and well done.

Author Reply: Yay, it’s useful! :)
Oh, the ancient star thing almost threw down the title of the essay. It was a headache to sort that out. After all, “The Few Stars That Varda Made and Several Others Beside” is not very catchy.
Thanks for your comments.

This is a very interesting and helpful piece and I believe I'll be referring to this in future stories that I intend to write. I like your keen attention to details in this piece, it was an enjoyable read. I agree, elves seem to be synonymous with stars in the Professor's work.

Author Reply: This was fascinating to research. It made me wonder more about Elvish star-lore - just how much did they know about astronomy that mortals would never till recently begin to puzzle out? Ha, people with more talent than me could come up with interesting stories.
Thanks for reading!

That Varda certainly was talented!

Thanks for a very well-written essay that I shall probably refer to the next time I try to identify or otherwise use the stars of Middle-earth. (I'm pretty hopeless at Astronomy and star-charts, etc.)

Author Reply: Thank *you* for reading it.
*laughs* Yes, I sometimes get dizzy trying to use a star-chart. I’m pleased you think this will be helpful.
