What a sweet little piece. Thank you for this image - it's a lovely addition to the tale.

That would have been a wonderful moment for Bilbo - to hear his beloved heartson's laughter and to see his beautiful face once more. More to add to the treasure trove of memories he already had of such a grace-filled one.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

This was beautiful. I loved your take on Bilbo's method of writing his poems. I also enjoyed your description 'young Frodo Baggins, shy and awkward as a days’ old fawn'. I like thinking that he wasn't also so self-assured and that he did need to grow into his role as heir to Bag End.

The bright memories will not fade. The delightful ones will remain with him ever. Unfortunately, all of them bear some scars from their experiences, and they will be painful at times; but joy follows the darkness in the fullness of time.

And love that for Bilbo it's the last line that presents itself first. Most poignant!
